  Re: NXT Sound Sensor

(...) Which it does pretty well, maxing out around 100 dB. (...) Not as much (yet!) as I'd like. The sound sensor has two modes familier to folks who work with dB noise levels. One is a "flat" frequency response curve, and one is a frequency (...) (19 years ago, 5-May-06, to lugnet.robotics)

  NXT Sound Sensor

The LEGO Education blog had some information a while ago on the NXT sound sensor. In addition to distinguishing decibel levels, they mentioned it featured "tone recognition". Can someone in the know comment on this feature. Can the sound sensor (...) (19 years ago, 5-May-06, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: NXT memory limits

(...) Having no knowledge of the NXT, I'm not sure what a .RSO file is. (a quick Google search of .RSO and sound takes me to the Raleigh Symphony Orchestra, and that seems way off LOL ) However, let me give an example of technology I am aware of. (...) (19 years ago, 5-May-06, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: NXT memory limits

(...) What do you mean? It is possible to transfer files between a PC and the NXT over bluetooth so you can "stream" a .RSO file but doing so at 64 bytes per packet would be rather cumbersome. And playing the file on the NXT could not begin until (...) (19 years ago, 5-May-06, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: NXT to NXT communication?

(...) I can't figure out a easy way for me to test PC-to-NXT timelag, but I tried some simple bench tests on NXT-to-NXT. This is just the old standard of two timed loops (10,0000 interations), one empty, and one with a single block (or two), and (...) (19 years ago, 5-May-06, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: NXT to NXT communication?

I haven't seen any discussion on the performance of the bluetooth messaging. I've measured PC to NXT round trip (send message and receive acknowledgement) as typically being 30 milliseconds. Has anyon else done these measurements and were your (...) (19 years ago, 5-May-06, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: NXT to NXT communication?

(...) Or even A master over B, B over A? ROSCO (19 years ago, 5-May-06, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: NXT to NXT communication?

(...) So, if any NXT can be both master and slave, could you hook 3 of them up in a triangle? A is master over B, B over C, and C over A? (19 years ago, 5-May-06, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: NXT interface

(...) You use the L/R arrow buttons to scroll an icon list along the bottom of the display, and when the proper menu icon is in the center, you hit the centeral orange button to select it, and drill down a menu. The smaller rectangular grey cancel (...) (19 years ago, 5-May-06, to lugnet.robotics)

  NXT interface

We've all seen screenshots of the Labview programming environment that ships with the NXT. I'm curious about the interface on the actual NXT (with the standard firmware). How does the menu system work? Obviously there are size limits to how much (...) (19 years ago, 5-May-06, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: NXT memory limits

(...) I understand the size constraints for storing long sound files on the NXT, but has anyone tried streaming sound over Bluetooth? -Tim (19 years ago, 5-May-06, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: NXT memory limits

(...) Yes. Successfully. There is already software available for converting .wav files. (thanks MDPs) Of course, they can't be too big. One of the first things I did was replace the goofy startup sound with a smaller one. There's also software to (...) (19 years ago, 5-May-06, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: NXT memory limits

(...) I would add, for completeness sake, that there is also an ATMEGA48 in the NXT too. There are two main reasons for this. 1. The legacy sensor interface requires 5v ADC for the analog inputs. 2. The motor PWM needs some outboard help. The ATMEGA (...) (19 years ago, 5-May-06, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: NXT to NXT communication?

(...) As Brian already mentioned I have produced a compiler for a text-based language (assembly) which is called Next Byte Codes (NBC) for a number of complicated reasons. Michael Barrett Anderson, who is the father of LASM and the RCX firmware, has (...) (19 years ago, 4-May-06, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: NXT to NXT communication?

(...) I am not certain but I believe that the NXT does not allow direct slave-slave communication. An NXT can be both a master and a slave in a hierarchical array of NXTs (to the best of my knowledge) but two slave NXTs cannot directly communicate (...)   Re: NXT memory limits

(...) The documentation on the LEGO website is a good source: (URL) chip is the Atmel AT91SAM7S256 (URL) this helps, John Hansen (19 years ago, 4-May-06, to lugnet.robotics)

  NXT memory limits

Now that the NDA has been lifted, can anyone confirm how much memory is available on the NXT? Also, can anyone confirm what CPU they are using (i.e. what flavor of ARM chip etc?) (19 years ago, 4-May-06, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: NXT to NXT communication?

(...) Thank you, Kevin - yes, I should have said John Hansen. My fault entirely, sorry about that John. (19 years ago, 4-May-06, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: NXT to NXT communication?

(...) I a slight mis-statement. John Hansen is the NBC guy. Kevin (19 years ago, 4-May-06, to lugnet.robotics)
