|
| | Hello, I am involved with a FLL team, and we just horribly bombed at our regional competition. Part of this failure was an interesting and mind-boggling problem that we found. Our programs were not allowing us to edit them in any way. Is there (...) (20 years ago, 16-Nov-04, to lugnet.robotics)

| | | | (...) I don't use the RIS software, but if you copied the files to a CD, then copied them off, the "read-only" attribute may be set, which could make them un-changable. Just a thought Steve (20 years ago, 16-Nov-04, to lugnet.robotics)

| | | | (...) I tried that, and it makes them un-savable, but not un-changable. But maybe there's another file somewhere in the RIS software directory that's read-only that causes the problem? It would be worth checking. ROSCO (20 years ago, 17-Nov-04, to lugnet.robotics)

| | | | (...) 1. Can you create and save NEW programs? 2. If yes, can you open, edit, and save NEW programs? 3. If yes, create a temporary folder in your root drive, typically C:, and copy the troublesome program there. Right click on the new temporary (...) (20 years ago, 18-Nov-04, to lugnet.robotics, FTX)

|
| | | | (...) There is a bug that we have dealt with that sounds similar--if a time for a Big Block is set below 0.1, so that all that displays onscreen is 0.0 in a block, it sometimes causes the program to become corrupt. You then can't edit it or do (...) (20 years ago, 19-Nov-04, to lugnet.robotics, FTX)

| | | | Hello, thanks for all of the input. To answer some common suggestions: 1. No, the files were not write-protected nor read-only 2. Yes, we were able to create new files, open, edit, and save them, but they in turn would occasionally become corrupt (...) (20 years ago, 20-Nov-04, to lugnet.robotics, FTX)

|
| | | | I know this is a bit late, but we hit major RIS problems the first year we did FLL. We switched to ROBOLAB. No regrets!!!! Even kids who were reluctant to change are sold on ROBOLAB. No comparison. You'll save yourself a lot of time and frustration. (...) (20 years ago, 23-Nov-04, to lugnet.robotics)

Maybe Robolab for the younger ones, and NQC for the older ones... As stated previously, thank you all for the info, (...) (20 years ago, 4-Mar-05, to lugnet.robotics)

| | | | (...) No - NQC is an independently developed OpenSource package - it has nothing to do with the Lego company. Thus, technically, it's a non-Lego part and is ruled out by FLL. Personally, I think that's kinda stupid because the byte-code that ends up (...) (20 years ago, 6-Mar-05, to lugnet.robotics)
