G'day Gahlord,
Just outof interest, as an experiment with my science class, we easily
towed 30kg (66pounds) on a trolly, using a robot with two motors, 8 tooth
gear driving a 40 tooth gear. Traction was the limiting factor, with tyres
slipping - the motors were far from stalling. Doing some data collection
and extrapolation, we estimated the robot could tow in excess of 40kg
(88pounds), provided tyres did not lose traction!
Change to a worm drive, and you could shift a lot more weight, again
traction would limit weight shifted.

| To add some further information, I popped the unit open last night and observed that, as I had hoped, mechanically the unit should be capable of operating correctly. Each motor channel has a mouse style slotted wheel and sensor, so the firmware (...) (21 years ago, 12-Nov-03, to lugnet.robotics)
