If the green LED is on, and data line is held low, no IR is produced by the tower, so it will not harm the LED's.
(I keep my tower alive for hours and I can't see any degradation)





I have W2K and WinME on my PC at home.  Neither of these operating systems
drive the green LED on my IR tower continually.  At work I have W2K and
there, too, it does not continually drive the LED.

But I think you use your own serial comm driver instead of spirit.ocx?
