I came here to post about Robotica, but I should've known it was done
already! But I'll still discuss it:)
Dean,
I agree completely. This is for entertainment, and not just entertainment
for robotic designers, but for the public.
I actually like this type better because I enjoy engineering rather than
programming.
There are many autonomous robotic competitions going on, but you're not
likely to see them on television, they don't appeal to the masses.
Something else you may be interested in: Many of the teams pre-build
their bots with Lego Technic! I've found them other places but look at these:

| Wow, imagine my surprise when our web tracking software indicated we were getting hits from a newsgroup I'd never heard of!
