  Re: lego cap, polarity, etc

If I read correctly, it sounds as if there are + and - signs on the capacitor, which would imply that there is something that would block an incorrect polarity on the terminal. Maybe the diode and the 2 transistors on the board do this, I do not (...) (24 years ago, 27-Mar-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: lego cap, polarity, etc

(...) Right, what I was trying to say is that a bridge can't 'invert' a DC input of one polarity to make an output of another polarity - it can't "correct" anything, a diode can only conduct or not conduct. All a bridge can do is route the given DC (...) (24 years ago, 27-Mar-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: lego cap, polarity, etc

(...) connectors. Uh, a bridge wouldn't be very good if it didn't handle inputs that switched polarities. A bridge should work just fine with a DC input of any polarity (of course for any DC input, only half of the bridge is actually being used). (...) (24 years ago, 27-Mar-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  lego cap, polarity, etc

(...) I don't have one, but can make some guesses. A bridge only works with an AC input - it can't correct the polarity of a DC input. So the Lego cap either has an AC input possibly through a bridge or a DC input which is the correct polarity by (...) (24 years ago, 27-Mar-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: AI in MindStorms

My entire goal is AI with mindstorms as input sensors. I'll put up a web page as soon as I have anything. Scott (24 years ago, 27-Mar-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  AI in MindStorms

I had done a project that integrated the Neural Network and Fuzzy Logic into the RCX for Navigation by legOS. Of course, the network models are simple due to the limited recources. I do not have time to manage the materials and upload them yet. But (...) (24 years ago, 27-Mar-01, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Solar cells and caps: lego part #s

(...) The capacitor is very much polarity-sensitive. It has +/- polarity indicators on either side of the standard 2x2 9V terminal, as does the solar cell, and it will not work if the polarity is reversed. (24 years ago, 27-Mar-01, to lugnet.robotics)

RE: Electrical Data Link between 2 RCXs

Hi Bernd :) I see we're working in the same subject here :) *great* If you care to browse lugnet.robotics old thread "VLL *input* for RCX/CyberMaster (in NQC) ?" or the newer one, starting with "CM-RCX" (the subject had some variations) Your (...)   Solar cells and caps: lego part #s

This whole Lego capacitor thing strikes me as somewhat intriguing. The super-caps, which are doubtless used, absolutely cannot be charged backwards, they have to have the correct polarity. And all the Lego electrical "stuff" like the RCX sensors, (...) (24 years ago, 27-Mar-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: New Group?

Hi All, Although I started with NCQ I've used Gordon's Brick Programmer quite a bit. Its neat for putting things together quickly and I use the library import screen a lot to reuse bits from old projects. I'd like to hear about how other people use (...) (...) Umm... That would be me. (j/k) Or is this a trick question? I bet this is one of those damn transcendentalist(sp?) questions, isn't it? =) -Gordon (24 years ago, 27-Mar-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: New Group?

As the author of GBP I get 3 or 4 emails a week about it and there have been 9,647 hits (I just checked) or the download page since I installed the counter about a year ago. My only problem with the idea of setting up a GBP group is that it might (...) (24 years ago, 27-Mar-01, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.robotics.rcx)

  Re: Extreme Mindstorms Book Question

(...) I agree that finding books on behaviour is a bit difficult.. That dives into the big world of computer programming... The robotics books I am referring to are at college now, and next time I'm on campus I'll look up their names (sorry for the (...) (24 years ago, 27-Mar-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Extreme Mindstorms Book Question

Henry, I would have to disagree about the non-Mindstorms book part. If you could point out particular books that you liked then that would be helpful. When I was researching for ideas for my book I searched on sites like Amazon for "robot" and (...) (24 years ago, 27-Mar-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Extreme Mindstorms Book Question

Gordon, That is a good question. And I agree, there isn't much out there in this regard. In my book I talk about very simple (1D) robot navigation - remembering a place that you went to and going back to it. As far as more complex navigation goes (...)   Re: Solar cells and caps: lego part #s

(...) The solar cell is part no. 32339, and the capacitor is part no. 32342. (...) Ok I unscrewed the capacitor's housing to get a better look. The main capacitor is a "Gold Cap" brand electrolytic, 2.5V, 1F (!). It's soldered to a small circuit (...) (24 years ago, 27-Mar-01, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Solar Cell Output in Direct Sunlight
