Re: What is an RCX 2.0?

(...) So you got the same late shipment from Future Shop too? I was hopping that we may get a RIS 2.0, but a RIS 1.5 is still great for the 50% off price. I also have no idea if the RCX 2.0 has any physical difference compare to a RCX 1.5. (24 years ago, 10-Mar-01, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Need Decision Help - Buy RIS 1.5 now or 2.0 later

(...) There used to be a scan of the 2.0 contents page on Jin Satos site, but currently I can't get it from here. AFAIR the differences were not spectacular, some fiber optic piece that fit on the light sensor is added, there still are no steering (...) (24 years ago, 10-Mar-01, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: DDK - What use are they / lower prices seen

With the news of steep discounts on the Droid developer kit, I located fours sets at a CompUSA in Austin, and bought them all at $29.99 each. Will probably give two away as gifts and use the other two this week, which happens to be spring break for (...) (24 years ago, 10-Mar-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  RE: Solenoid Pnuematic Valve

That's the one. I used the low pressure version to get the 1/2 watt rating I.E. 5VDC @ 100mA. It works, but it has a few drawbacks....It's a traditional 3 way valve (Com, NO, NC) so it doesn't vent the same way the Lego valves do, you'd need two to (...)   Re: Need Decision Help - Buy RIS 1.5 now or 2.0 later

Thanks to everyone who responded, both by posting and email. I had a great time looking at Jin Sato's site as well as other Japanese Mindstorms sites, thanks Juergen. Isn't it odd that the Japanese version of RIS 2.0 shipped back in November but (...) (24 years ago, 10-Mar-01, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: What AC adapter to use for RIS 1.0?

(...) A final word on this subject. I've posted two replies already but have missed the obvious until today. Unfortunately, it's so obvious that it's embarrassing. I made a comment that I was surprised that there were no instructions in the manual (...) (24 years ago, 11-Mar-01, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Need Decision Help - Buy RIS 1.5 now or 2.0 later

(...) Strictly speaking, there is a difference, physically, between the 1.0 and the 1.5 or 2.0 RCX (I have a 1.0 and a 2.0). The 1.0 has an external power jack. This doesn't effect the physical characteristics of the RCX as far as where and how you (...) (24 years ago, 11-Mar-01, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Need Decision Help - Buy RIS 1.5 now or 2.0 later

(...) Actually, I wouldn't read too much into that. I just received my RIS 1.5 on Friday and it contained and RCX 2.0, but the photos in the manuals and on the box show at least 15 different RCX 1.0's (including 3 with 5 digit serial numbers). I (...) (24 years ago, 11-Mar-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  Gear Down Robot`

Has anyone created a geared down robot with a gear ratio of 8:40 x 8:40? My original creation is not 'good enough' to go in a straight line and after all the repsonds to my original message I still can not build one. I suck at the building part of (...)   Re: What AC adapter to use for RIS 1.0?

Hello everyone, I've just signed up to this mailing list and it looks like there's a lot of cool information being passed around here. Anyway, I have an RCX 1.0 with the power jack. Some time ago, I noticed the markings in the plastic above the (...) (24 years ago, 11-Mar-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Gear Down Robot`

(...) I have an MLCad .dat (substructure) file I can send you, or anybody, if wanted. NOt sure of the ratio, though. Might give you ideas though. Send your email address to my email address at ElectroDFW <at> cs <dot> com, with subject: Geartrain. (...) (24 years ago, 12-Mar-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Gear Down Robot`

Pictures are at: (URL) also working on a motor control library that combines speed measurement, distance measurement, stall detection and proprotional feedback for control. (...)   Lego R/C etc

I'm sorry for the delay in being able to post on this subject. I've been out of town for a couple of weeks, and will be away for a few days this week as well. It's the busy season for me! Here is the current state of the game; I have built a few (...) (24 years ago, 12-Mar-01, to lugnet.robotics)

More juice out of the standard motors.

Hello I'm trying to make a robot go as fast as possible, but it seems that the power of the engines are stopping me. I own one RIS kit and nothing more. Can i add some more batteries or something? -- Magnus Fasting E-mail: pleboy@online.no Icq: (...) (24 years ago, 12-Mar-01, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: More juice out of the standard motors.

Tricky , Tricky, here's the dilly, 8 to 24 tooth makes the fastest, but low output power, try to find the proper combo so your motors don't work to hard, add a worm gear to hold off the back spin, then try some more gears to get the speed you need, (...)   Re: Solenoid Pnuematic Valve

hey Jeff: Those pictures you sent me a while ago are still on my web site. they are @: (URL) I went and bought 2 of these valves just so I can try to "make" a 4 way valve. I have a crude proto type, and it sort-a fits in a 4x4 lego brick. sorry no (...) (24 years ago, 13-Mar-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Lego R/C etc

WOW ! Sounds like someone answered my prayers. #3 appeals to me. It sounds like just the thing to run the AI on a PC and remotely control the LEGO(R) Chassis. Would it be too much to ask for pics of the prototypes ? -Xanthra47 "John Barnes" (...) (24 years ago, 13-Mar-01, to lugnet.robotics)
