  Re: Walkers

(...) That's an interesting suggestion. One should point out (for those who have not played with these devices) that the Gyro itself doesn't mechanically stabilise the helicopter. The Gyro is hooked up to some kind of a rotation sensor that detects (...) (24 years ago, 16-Feb-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Walkers

Has anyone considered adapting one of the tiny gyros used to stabalize remote control helicoptors ? These work by modifying the pulse stream that controls a standard R/C servo. - pete. (...) -- Pete Sevcik sevcik@flash.net Techno-stuff Robotics (...) (24 years ago, 15-Feb-01, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: What are all those lego companies?

You can get the Control Center for $85.00 US from Pitsco ((URL) but I think Cybermaster is Europe-only. (24 years ago, 16-Feb-01, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Make a goal by the IR port on RCX

(...) You can't technically overload an input port. Output ports (motors, lights, etc) are a different story. Matthias Jetleb VA3-MWJ (24 years ago, 16-Feb-01, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Make a goal by the IR port on RCX

A simple on/off sensor can be placed in series or parallel with other on/off sensors however analog sensors cannot. It should be pointed out that if you do group sensors, it becomes impossible to determine which one was actually triggered. This (...) (24 years ago, 16-Feb-01, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Make a goal by the IR port on RCX

(...) You might try this: stand two mirrors on edge at 90 deg to one another. This creates a corner reflector which will reflect light back in the direction from which it came. Have the robot first search for this reflection and then move toward the (...) (24 years ago, 16-Feb-01, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: What are all those lego companies?

(...) Where does one get CYBERMASTER and CONTROL CENTER anyway? Matthias Jetleb VA3-MWJ (24 years ago, 16-Feb-01, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: What are all those lego companies?

(...) You left out PRIMO (aka BABY). These are aimed specifically at the 0 - 2 age group. They connect with DUPLO on the bottom and a few speciallized pices connect with DUPLO on the top to allow a transition from one product line to another. The (...)   Re: RIS 2.0 status

(...) I can't see this making much sense. It would be soooo much cheaper for TLC to send stickers out to the stores to be applied to the 1.5 boxes. These stickers could direct customers to Lego Customer Service to obtain a free replacement CD if the (...) (24 years ago, 16-Feb-01, to lugnet.robotics)

Local Toys-R-Us has 1.5s on the shelf in my area. -- Richard Clemens clemens@wvwc.edu (24 years ago, 16-Feb-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: IR tower problems

(...) There must be something terribly wrong if you couldn't get it to go over a couple of meters. RS-232's maximum cable length depends on the baud rate - at 9600, it's good for about 500 meters IIRC. The tower comms is about 1200? 2400? You (...) (24 years ago, 15-Feb-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: RIS 2.0 status

(...) Having seen other posts on the scarcity of the 1.5 kit, I thought I read that the 1.5 kits were being taken back by Lego to be re-used for the 2.0 kit. As others have said, not much of an update between 1.5 and 2.0 - mainly the software. Is (...) (24 years ago, 15-Feb-01, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Make a goal by the IR port on RCX

Re: Make a goal by the IR port on RCX

(...) If there is no way to free an input port for a light sensor you can try other ways with IR. You could use a PC to send messages to the RCX "turn left", "turn right", "slow" and so on. Now the problem is, how does your PC know which direction (...) (24 years ago, 15-Feb-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: IR tower problems

(...) [snip] My attempt failed when adding an extension cable 2 meters in length. The computer reported a failure to communicate with the IR tower. The total length of the two joined cables apparently exceeds the maximum length for IR Tower (...) (24 years ago, 15-Feb-01, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: What are all those lego companies?

(...) You also failed to mention the Lego trains. I grew up with the railway sets as an integral part of my [basic] Lego collection in the early 80s. Since then they have been motorised, electrified and controllable (==programmable?). (24 years ago, 15-Feb-01, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Make a goal by the IR port on RCX

(...) It may be possible to overload the sensor ports. Can you tell us what types these sensors are, and what they are used for? (...) I did it once, not with LegOS though. See (URL) for details. Sadly, that can-retrieval project is left unfinished. (...) (24 years ago, 15-Feb-01, to lugnet.robotics)

beam colors in 9790 Team Challenge?

I have been in need of another RCX for a while, but have kept putting it off until RIS 2.0 comes out... From the picture, the Dacta set 9790 Team Challenge looks neat. (See (URL).) 1) Does anybody know which colors of Technic beams this set has? RIS (...) (24 years ago, 15-Feb-01, to lugnet.dacta, lugnet.robotics)

  Re: RIS 2.0 status

I was in the Lego store on Michigan Av. Chicago and the guy told me to expect RIS 2.0 in March, which would still make it a Spring release. They didn't have any 1.5 kits, which have been recalled as most people know. (...) (24 years ago, 15-Feb-01, to lugnet.robotics)
