I assume from the USB reference that you want to use the IR tower with a USB
Mac. Short answer: Yes, you can.
I use the IR tower to transmit MacNQC programs to "my son's" RCX 1.5 brick
from a B&W G3, all via USB.
My setup consists of a USB cable to an Interex USB 5 port hub, and from that
I have a Keyspan USB-to-serial converter. Attached to the Keyspan unit, I
have a Palm Macintosh adapter--about US$7--that coverts Mac serial
(Mini-DIN-9?) to a standard PC COM connector. The Lego-supplied serial cable
completes the link between the Palm adapter and the IR tower. No problems so
far.
Convoluted, I know, but it works great.
Hope this helps you out.
Todd
