  ABB irb340 PickMaster

(URL) pictures) This is modeled after the ABB irb340 PickMaster ( (URL) - Click on "Robots", then IRB 340). I know, it's just the base right now. But it proves the concept. I think I ought to buy another rotation sensor. This thing is *wild*. If you (...) (24 years ago, 31-Jan-01, to lugnet.robotics)

(...) Iain, This looks like a perfect opportunity to try using the servo circuit I designed! If I use some of the heavier duty servos I have in my stash, it could probably go direct drive. Each servo has a 180 degree range of motion, which might be (...) (24 years ago, 31-Jan-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  Saw RCX brick at Goodwill

Hey all, i'm a casual follower of the list and only hit the leggos once in a while with my three yr old. But this weekend was in Goodwill and saw a box, blue lightening bolts, etc...(can't remember what product name was on it....argh..maybe (...) (24 years ago, 31-Jan-01, to lugnet.robotics)

I need more information to help you. Where exactly is this Goodwill located, and what are their business hours? Regards, Amnon (...) (24 years ago, 31-Jan-01, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Saw RCX brick at Goodwill

(...) It doesn't matter if the brick is dead; You can call up lego and say "Hey, my brick is dead!" and they'll send you another; They may or may not ask for the old one back. (24 years ago, 31-Jan-01, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Saw RCX brick at Goodwill

Well, to save you worrying, why not just go buy it for $30 and I'll send you the $30 + cost of postage and you can forward it to me. I'm sure I could get $30 value out of it. I don't think the average 3 year old would have a lot of use for it (...) (24 years ago, 31-Jan-01, to lugnet.robotics)

(...) Worse than that - Lego represents a choking hazard to 3yr olds - you can't possibly use it! Duplo for you for another year or two! ...I'll give you $35. :-) (24 years ago, 31-Jan-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: ABB irb340 PickMaster

(...) The problem is that servo's are driven by signals that are considerably narrower than the 1/100th second resolution timers that the Lego firmware provides. They use pulse-width modulation - so the width of the pulse determines the position of (...) (24 years ago, 1-Feb-01, to lugnet.robotics)

(...) The pbForth language has servo driving words built-in to the current release. They allow at least 128 steps of resolution for driving servos. Combined with the dead-simple circuit on my web-page, it makes driving servos very easy... (URL) (...) (24 years ago, 1-Feb-01, to lugnet.robotics)

RCX 2.0's tower has a USB port

Or at least I hope it does... Does anyone have a good USB to serial adaptor that actually works well for my RCX 1.0? -- Richard Clemens clemens@wvwc.edu (24 years ago, 1-Feb-01, to lugnet.robotics)

(...) I just got the Keyspan USB->PDA adapter. It works great on my iBook using MacNQC with an RCX 1.0 (using 2.0 firmware). Cheers, Kevin (24 years ago, 4-Feb-01, to lugnet.robotics)
