Hi :) I was going to write about the need for the minimum of 3 point for a perfect TRIangulation etc.. but then, it just ocurred to me: One can use this err... You need gears or a cam that allows an adjustment in the distance from the centerline of the shaft. A 24 tooth gear and a 40 tooth gear would allow you to accomplish such action. I find the cam is very useful as the driven element. You can always (...) (25 years ago, 30-Nov-00, to lugnet.robotics)

Hi, just passing by coming from sci.geo.satellite-nav it occured to me that even under best circumstances and assuming the robot to be on a plane area two microphones will not provide the position, or better said, it still might be on either one or (...) Oh. I sort of figured that you took the stuff out of the mouse (i just went back and read all the messages ;), it just that I have an optical mouse and i wouldn't want to take it apart. if the rcx could read the outputs from the mouse directly, then (...) I just got a usb or ps/2 optical mouse (with a wheel!) for $20 at compusa. I'm not sure who is trying to get an optical mouse to work with the Rcx, but i'd like any information on it that they have. Doing a little research, I found out that, when (...) (25 years ago, 30-Nov-00, to lugnet.robotics)

Depending on your lego skills, it would be better to follow a few simpler designs at first, building the bot is only about half the battle the other half is getting the code to make it do what you want. You can put rotation sensors on each wheel, and then monitor them for changes. If one gets ahead of another, then slow that motor down. This works well, but differences in the wheels cause it to turn slightly. Andy (...) (25 years ago, 28-Nov-00, to lugnet.robotics)
