No in the AA size there are companies that make Nickel Metal Hidryde as well
as nickel cadmium, but the Nickle Metal are much harder to find and much more
expensive.(I suppose there is probably a company out there making Lithium Ion
AA I just have not found them yet)

There are several different ways to charge, but unfortunately only a few are
implemented at the AA size. So you probbably will be stuck (unless you plan on
duilding your own) only being able to find one kind of charger. I usually give
up and just buy the one made by the manufacture of whatever bateries I bought.

Yes! Nickle Metal and Lithium Ion bataries do not.
