  External power supply ?

Hello, for work i've been building a lego crane, which is used to attract people to my company's stand at fairs/conferences. One of the problem is the batteries. It's annoying that every once in a while someone has to change them. I've heard that (...) (22 years ago, 25-Nov-03, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: HELP, please! USB tower problems

(...) Thanks for your advice, but I am in sweden. Here it is not so easy to find parts and not all the companies sell internationally. My other concern is that if it really is my computer that doesnt work, it might not work will the seril tower (...) (22 years ago, 25-Nov-03, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: HELP, please! USB tower problems

(...) I am at home now, tried my tower on my home pc and it works there (different computer), so I know now that the tower is ok. I have contacted the VIA support, to see what they think about the matter. I am going to install bricxCC to see if it (...) (22 years ago, 25-Nov-03, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: HELP, please! USB tower problems

(...) I've also heard that USB and Plug-and-Play support on Windows 2000 is not 100% reliable and probably never will be no matter how many service packs you install. (...) I would agree with this. Although the serial tower requires a 9V battery and (...) (22 years ago, 25-Nov-03, to lugnet.robotics)

RE: HELP, please! USB tower problems

Until you try the IR tower on another computer (that is not identical to yours), you have no way of knowing if the tower is the problem is in the USB device or in the USB chipset. At this point, I'd cut my losses (and time) short and spend $25 on a (...) (22 years ago, 25-Nov-03, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: multiple motors

(...) Yes, that was the problem Brian was having. And, because the LEGO motors are so efficent, they work really well as generators. So, if you hook two together, and try to turn 1 and stop the other, you will have problems. I'm not sure I explained (...) (22 years ago, 25-Nov-03, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

Re: HELP, please! USB tower problems

(...) Hello again Rob, I have my windows OS updated. (Service packs 4.0 and all the other updates.) I have been doing some research on the Internet and it seems that the problem might be on my chipset: VIA Technologies Inc VT8366/A, VT8367 Apollo (...)   RE: HELP, please! USB tower problems

Ruth, If the tower works on another computer, then at least one of the following will be true: 1) There is some sort of hardware conflict that is aggravated by accessing the IR tower 2) There is a software conflict 3) The computer has a combination (...)   Re: Weird downloading error

Just some general ideas. If you're not using the firmdl or lejosfirmdl that came with lejos, try using one of those. Some versions of some downloaders have trouble with the lejos firmware. If you haven't tried fresh batteries in your RCX, try that. (...) (22 years ago, 25-Nov-03, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.java)

  Re: multiple motors

(...) I'm just thinking out loud here, but it seems that the problem with the two middle motors is that they are wired together. So even if the RCX is told to float the motor output, both motors will want to turn together. If one turns, it will act (...) (22 years ago, 25-Nov-03, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

  Re: multiple motors

(...) Well, I've never actually tried running six motors directly from the RCX. However, I have used three motors to drive a sumo robot. And I've also used four motors (two on each side) to drive six wheels (two on the right, two on the left, and (...) (22 years ago, 25-Nov-03, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

  Weird downloading error

Hello ppl, I have this weird problem where I can't seem to download the lejos firmware completely onto the RCX. The counter on the RCX lcd counts up to 20 as the firmware is downloaded while the LCD also shows a weird 'V' sorta symbol on the far (...) (22 years ago, 25-Nov-03, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.java)

Re: HELP, please! USB tower problems

Hi, I would try this. 1. Using any other USB based device and test the USB port. 2. Scan the machine for viruses. Looks like you driver is getting uninstalled by an application. ( This is my own idea). Hope this helps. Alex Jayasundara ----- (...) (22 years ago, 24-Nov-03, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: multiple motors

(...) ...I love understatment. sigh... (...) OK, in trying to implement this I've come to an interesting impasse.
