What I'd like to see is sites and/or companies which have a
significant interest to the community.  Big community sites, of course, but I
would even welcome Plano and eBay, because their products or services are • widely
used by AFOLs.  The community takes its business to places like that.

I really don't see your lines as drawn, Tim. We just got over being all
pissed off at eBay over the BrickBay/BrickLink thing...why are they OK, but
Amazon or Yahoo aren't?

Sure, I'm pissed at eBay.  But, the site is still of community interest - we
still go there to buy LEGO up for auction.

I say Kevin does whatever it takes, as long as he is willing to deal with
it, to keep his site running. I'll likely not click through more than the
most targeted ads, especially since they'll likely be for sites I already
have bookmarks to, but if it takes a Yahoo or Amazon (or whatever) ad, that
Kevin agrees to, to keep BrickShelf alive, then more power to him.

What I'm really trying to say, is I don't want to see Brickshelf (or any
community site) fall into the commercial flavor of the rest of the internet.
I'd rather see membership fees (and gladly pay them) than see ads.  If I have to
see ads, I'd rather only see ads that are direct community interest, and not the
annoying ads common to most of the internet.

Then again, I'll probably just tune my filtering software and go back to my
ad-free bliss.  Yahoo's figured out a way around it though :-(  If my filtering
out ads on Brickshelf's pages restricts the flow of money into Kevin's pocket
because the ads aren't loading when I view a page, I'll gladly donate money to
Brickshelf, more money than the missed ad exposure would have generated.

I think Kevin's standards rule out Casino On Net from being considered... phew.
