The online LEGO community and sites within it.  As in, I'd rather not see ads
for sites which have nothing to do with our interest.  Like I wouldn't want to
see a Yahoo banner, or an Amazon banner, or any other such site (not that they
would advertise at BS, but it does appear to get the volume of hits to attract
bigger companies).

What if the money from Amazon or Yahoo were the thing that was to keep
BrickShelf alive? Lots of us use Amazon to buy LEGO, or LEGO related books.
Lots of us use Yahoo Groups for private LEGO based mailing lists.

What I'd like to see is sites and/or companies which have a
significant interest to the community.  Big community sites, of course, but I
would even welcome Plano and eBay, because their products or services are widely
used by AFOLs.  The community takes its business to places like that.

I really don't see your lines as drawn, Tim. We just got over being all
pissed off at eBay over the BrickBay/BrickLink thing...why are they OK, but
Amazon or Yahoo aren't?

I say Kevin does whatever it takes, as long as he is willing to deal with
it, to keep his site running. I'll likely not click through more than the
most targeted ads, especially since they'll likely be for sites I already
have bookmarks to, but if it takes a Yahoo or Amazon (or whatever) ad, that
Kevin agrees to, to keep BrickShelf alive, then more power to him.

Matt
