Lets take this one step further guys (and gals, and minifigs for that
matter) - keep the BrickShelf ads within the community. I would like to
work something out with LDraw contributors to donate money to host LDraw ads
on BrickShelf, and I think it would be a good idea for other websites,
especially big ones like LUGNET, BrickLink, LEGO.com, LDraw, etc to do the same.
This is also a good outlet for personal sites, org sites like Castle World,
and event sites - BrickFest, BricksWest, etc to get their message out to
non-LUGNET readers. From my understanding, lots of BrickShelf users don't
read LUGNET, they use other forums to discuss their LEGO interest.
As much as I dislike banner ads, I appreciate the policies you set in place,
Kevin, and I think that it would be a good thing for everyone if we used the
service to promote the rest of the community and kept the ad space within
the community.
My 2 LDU,
-Tim
