Re: A customized minifig and a question

G'day Edward Thanks for replying. (...) So I was noticing in your recent posting of custom figures. Thanks for sharing those, by the way. It's a bit more motivation for me to get going about generating images of my own figures, since we have several (...) (20 years ago, 24-Dec-04, to lugnet.build.minifigs, lugnet.parts.mod)

Re: A customized minifig and a question

Well, I prefer painting myself; but several people I know swear by printable decals. I beleive they use the same waterslide decals that modelers use for cars and airplanes. It can be bought in sheets and run through a printer. All you have to do is (...) (20 years ago, 24-Dec-04, to lugnet.build.minifigs, lugnet.parts.mod)

Re: A customized minifig and a question

(...) I don't do custom minifigs at all but I must say, you do a superb job. I really like the Canada Post carrier. I live in the GTA area myself and it looks like a real postal carrier!! ---member 1893 (20 years ago, 24-Dec-04, to lugnet.build.minifigs, lugnet.parts.mod)

A customized minifig and a question

Hello everyone As some of you may know, I do a fair amount of custom work involving Lego minifigures. I've got a recent project I'd like to share the results of, and also a question arising from that project. You'll find an image of the figure in (...)   Re: Gray paint mod

(...) Do you have an airbrush? You may have to mix your own using model paints. In fact I'd recomend this for a better surface. Even hand painting may be preferable. I used to build alot of models. And with some practice I got quite good at giving (...) (20 years ago, 10-Dec-04, to lugnet.parts.mod, FTX)

  Gray paint mod

Hey all Has anyone found a paint that matches light gray? Brand / color? It appears I need to paint some black 3x3x2 cones light grey to finish off a smooth steeple point, and as they were never done in light gray , it's time to improve some bonus (...)   Holiday greeting card, 2004

Here's a holiday card we knocked out this past week in order take advantage of the personalized card sale over at Shutterfly.com: (URL) After the positive reviews we got from recipients of (URL) last year's card>, we went for a goofier theme.   Rob, I just have one question . . .

Do I get a discount for ordering in bulk? Totally awesome stuff, man. I'm such a sucker for lights in stuff and I LOVE how you worked in the Classic Space console images on the display. How soon before these parts will have self-contained power like (...) (20 years ago, 25-Nov-04, to lugnet.space, lugnet.parts.mod)

Re: New CS consoles - now featuring better glow!

(...) the part looks pretty cool, the extreme close up is pretty cruel! Regarding the lightand sound part, I didn't realise this existed, I wonder why they didn't use it more (with different inserts)? Tim (20 years ago, 24-Nov-04, to lugnet.space, lugnet.parts.mod, FTX)

Re: New CS consoles - now featuring better glow!

(...) Hehe...this is a great concept. I think of the early 80's Idea Books that have all the awesome interior shots with cool lighting and such. How amazing would a similar shoot look with consoles like these? Or say Dan's Explorer with a couple (...) (20 years ago, 24-Nov-04, to lugnet.space, lugnet.parts.mod)

Re: New CS consoles - now featuring better glow!

(...) Not impossible, but definitely too tough for even the likes of me. Consider this though: put the acetate inside the brick and then you would not have a smooth face on the outside. You'd have a ridge there. I can probably clean this current (...) (20 years ago, 23-Nov-04, to lugnet.space, lugnet.parts.mod)

Re: New CS consoles - now featuring better glow!

(...) Hey Rob, those look good. One suggestion: Have you considered placing the transparent piece on the inside of the brick? It might be more difficult, but it would lend a cleaner look. -Grand Admiral .space Curator (URL) (20 years ago, 23-Nov-04, to lugnet.space, lugnet.parts.mod, FTX)

Re: New CS consoles - now featuring better glow!

Rob, those are great. Never mind the naysayers "LEGO never made that console in that color" or whatever they may say. You are a(n evil) genius. Of course, now you have to figure out how to introduce motion effects into your lighting, so (URL) this (...) (20 years ago, 23-Nov-04, to lugnet.space, lugnet.parts.mod, FTX)

New CS consoles - now featuring better glow!

Check 'em out: (URL) extremely happy with the outcome. No shadows, no unsightly innards showing... Thanks to Admiral Giddens for the use of his site for reference material. The only nitpick I have is about the small place on the 1x2 that I cut too (...) (20 years ago, 23-Nov-04, to lugnet.space, lugnet.parts.mod) !

Re: Newer Mod (was: New mod)

(...) I'm already using hot glue which dries to a translucent white color. There's just not that much room inside a 1x2 tile to hide an LED. I'll experiment... Rob (20 years ago, 22-Nov-04, to lugnet.parts.mod, lugnet.space)

Re: Newer Mod (was: New mod)

(...) Would it be possible to fill the block with some sort of translucent something? That way the lighting would more diffused, and light up more evenly. Even something like good old-fashioned white glue - that dries clear and the light would show (...) (20 years ago, 22-Nov-04, to lugnet.parts.mod, lugnet.space)

Re: Newer Mod (was: New mod)

(...) Thanks Lar. Ya, I wish there was a better way (probably is, I just haven't thought of it yet) to make it show less of the shadows. I'm really enthusiastic about this new idea. Who knows, it could make its way into the train scene too. (...) (...) (20 years ago, 21-Nov-04, to lugnet.parts.mod, lugnet.space)
