        Re: Dome idea —Steve Bliss
(...) *That* would be too funny! A green baseplate, with a fence around it, and a gray dirt driveway up to a small hut off to one side... And a big gray circle in the middle. :) Steve (23 years ago, 27-Jun-01, to lugnet.org.us.michlug)

        Re: Dome idea —Scott Sanburn
Steve & All, (...) Indeed. The next time a GATS exhibitor comes and complains about how LEGO displays / products / trains are just a child's toy, we will launch a full nuclear strike on thier layout, heh heh. : ) Scott "Mommy, the LEGO people are (...)          Re: Dome idea —Scott Sanburn
Lindsay, (...) Yes, I love it!!!! It reminds me of Armegeddon! Where in the world did you get a 4 stud cone top? I never saw one of those before! "Please get off the nuclear missile!" Scott (23 years ago, 27-Jun-01, to lugnet.org.us.michlug)

Re: Dome idea —Lindsay Frederick Braun
(...) Dr. Strangelove was the actual inspiration for all of that silliness--granted, it's not a bomb per se, but I just *had* to put him on there. ;) (The following portion is why I've XP'd to .general) As for the 4x4x3 (I think) cone, I got it in a (...)        Lindsay & All, (...) Hmm.. I don't know if I remember that one or not. (...) Indeed. Nice part! (...)           Re: Dome idea —Richie Dulin
(...) Probably from set 358 rocket base (early 70's). There was definitely one in that set; I don't know of any others. Cheers Richie Dulin Patrician of Brick-Morpork (23 years ago, 28-Jun-01, to lugnet.org.us.michlug, lugnet.general)

         Re: Dome idea —Chris Leach
(...) In Dr. Strangelove slim pickins trys to un stick a nuke in the b-52 payload bay that was hung up on the rack.He sits on it gets it to release and rides it down to it's target yelping like he's a bull riding. (...) (23 years ago, 28-Jun-01, to lugnet.org.us.michlug)

Re: Dome idea —Lindsay Frederick Braun
(...) I thought that missile silo covers are actually sort of hexagonal, on a square patch of concrete, and they "slide" horizontally off the top of the silo. That may, of course, only be for certain weapons or certain generations of weapons, but (...) (23 years ago, 27-Jun-01, to lugnet.org.us.michlug)

         Re: Dome idea —Steve Bliss
(...) Well, that would be more interesting (both to builders and viewers) than a simple circle. The cover could be build from 1x bricks & slopes, laid flat. Put some rail plates along the edge, and some 1x4 grooved bricks on the 'concrete' pad. (...) (23 years ago, 27-Jun-01, to lugnet.org.us.michlug)

        Re: Dome idea —Rick Hallman
(...) That is a wonderful idea. WHat else can you build when your entire collection of white is in one building (hanger). I am going to do that. I was told the Sub may get weeded out, but I want to do some sort of WMD. RIck (23 years ago, 27-Jun-01, to lugnet.org.us.michlug)

        Re: Dome idea —Steve Bliss
(...) "WMD"? Oh, Weapon of Mass Destruction. Who's going to build the MX train car? Seriously, is there any room on the layout for a missile silo? Steve (23 years ago, 27-Jun-01, to lugnet.org.us.michlug)

        Re: Dome idea —Chris Leach
(...) Ummm i would have to say no.Let's keep this a nuke free city.I think knowing we have those in real life is enough.Besides i don't think we want our city to be a "first target". (23 years ago, 28-Jun-01, to lugnet.org.us.michlug)

        Re: Dome idea —Scott Sanburn
Chris & All, (...) Now, because of that, now I want to build a nuclear power plant, Chris! : ) (...) I think it was a tounge in cheeck comment anyway. Don't take it too seriously. Did you read the whole thread on this? (...) ? First target of what? (...) (23 years ago, 28-Jun-01, to lugnet.org.us.michlug)

         Re: Dome idea —Peter Guenther
(...) Besides, with the nuclear sub in the harbor, it would be overkill! (...) Of a preemptive strike? Peter (23 years ago, 28-Jun-01, to lugnet.org.us.michlug)

         Re: Dome idea —Chris Leach
(...) Hee i meant military weapons. (...) Yes i did read whole thread.I realise it was tounge in cheeck. But think about this do we want a kid to say "hey mom what's that?"         Re: Dome idea —Steve Bliss
(...) ;) That's fine. I wouldn't want nukes all over the place. A single vignette (especially like Lindsay described, with soldiers and paranoid civilians, etc) would be a somewhat amusing detail.
