blow off your straight line of 7 sensors, and instead, angle them to make a V

Actually, the sensors are a pretty flat V.

hummm im not sure if you understood or i was not clear....

But, how can you tell if (A) you passed a zig in the road or (B) you passed a
somewhat sharp turn?

OK.  if you line up your LX sensors in a V  looking at the top of your bot...

(bad ascci art)

then a line to the left will gradually fire off sensors 4 then 3 then 2 then 1

(assuming you drive OVER it then correct for it later)

BUT a ZIG to the left will fire off 1 through 4 almost at once.

This idea is JUST that, an idea, and will need to be battle tested.
