Running the GBC at the GTX train show in Indy was fun. I'll try to get pictures
posted soon. We're already planning for the next GTX show in January, and the
Children's expo in Feb.
One thing we talked about was trying to add more automation (computer controlled
stuff) to the GBC. The train was popular (especially at a train show), and Greg's
ball counter was pretty neat. But, the rest is pretty much "battery box" stuff.
Also, at this show, the GBC train only went around the GBC. In the future, we'll
want it to go into the rest of the layout, and come back to the GBC.
John and I had another idea. We could put GBC modules at both ends of the layout,
and have the train shuttle balls back and forth. Then, John decided to make a
single station that will unload & load balls from a train. He wants it to straddle
the track, and move balls from one side to the other, before loading them back in
the train.
Then, we had a really cool idea. We could have a "main loop" that runs around the
layout. It would have a "regular" train, and a GBC train. We'd have sensor to
detect the GBC train, and switch it to a siding, where it would be unloaded, and
reloaded, before being sent back onto the main line. The main line would not be RCX
controlled, the trains would just keep running the same direction.
What do you think?

| Since I couldn't build tonight because I don't have a tv to watch the colts at my lego table, I worked on trying to figure out how to reduce the number of RCXs we need to control 2 GBC loading & unloading spurs. I came up with this (when it goes (...) (19 years ago, 18-Oct-05, to lugnet.org.us.laflrc)
