Re: Creating a GBC for a train layout

(...) Agreed. (...) Yes. I've got this on most of my modules, but would develop it a lot more for a train layout. At ChiBots I even had one minifig who had fallen off of the top level, and was being held over the roiling ball stream below only by (...) (21 years ago, 4-Jan-06, to lugnet.org.us.laflrc)

moah display and LEGO train magnets, adding extra pull

I stopped by the MOAH display the last 2 Fridays and got to chat with many of the BAYLTC members. This is a great display, and a bunch of very friendly AFOL. Thanks again for making me feel welcome, and letting me run my train for a bit. Some of you (...) (21 years ago, 3-Jan-06, to lugnet.org.us.baylug, FTX)

Creating a GBC for a train layout

We were talking about this off line, and I'd like to continue this discussion on-line. We're trying to figure out how to make a GBC that looks like it should be part of a train layout. (...) Right. (...) The problem is actually getting paint that (...) (21 years ago, 3-Jan-06, to lugnet.org.us.laflrc)

  Re: 3T

(...) Yes, I do. However I also only have a dial-up connection at the moment, so we'll see how long this takes (like, all day). I'll update here with deeplinks when availible. (21 years ago, 3-Jan-06, to lugnet.org.us.laflrc)

  Re: 3T

(...) Yes, Steve's was the smallest, and fastest, and the only one that was completely on a 32x32 (and a road baseplate at that). It brought to mind a black cubistic turtle, and was the only one of the three that attatched to the board on the side (...) (21 years ago, 3-Jan-06, to lugnet.org.us.laflrc)

  Re: 3T

(...) I'm not exactly sure the size, but it was smaller than the others. I think it was the only one that was attached to only a 32x32 baseplate. (...) It carries five cubes, checks three cells, and was somewhat fast. I'm not sure the exact time per (...) (21 years ago, 3-Jan-06, to lugnet.org.us.laflrc)

  Re: 3T

(...) You should check out ITT Industries. We have a lot going on here in Fort Wayne in the Aerospace / Communications Division...If you submit a resume, put my name on it as a referral (the referral bonus would buy a few toys). I think we are (...) (21 years ago, 3-Jan-06, to lugnet.org.us.laflrc)

  Re: 3T

(...) And just how small is your robot? Since I couldn't make it (I had to spend the evening with my evil step mother), I didn't get to see anything. If your robot is small, does it hold all the cubes or pick one up at a time while awaiting your (...) (21 years ago, 3-Jan-06, to lugnet.org.us.laflrc)

  Re: 3T

(...) Well, I am open to opportunities in the embedded or analog design fields ..... JB (21 years ago, 3-Jan-06, to lugnet.org.us.laflrc)

  Re: 3T

(...) Or Toronto Canada... We have a few robotics enthusiasts AND socialized health care. :) Glad to see you guys doing this. Cant wait for the pics Chris (21 years ago, 3-Jan-06, to lugnet.org.us.laflrc)

(...) Maybe now's a good time to move to Indiana... :) Steve (21 years ago, 3-Jan-06, to lugnet.org.us.laflrc)

  Re: 3T

(...) You guys have too much fun! Imagine living somewhere where there are robotics enthusiasts within 100 miles. JB (21 years ago, 3-Jan-06, to lugnet.org.us.laflrc)

  3T

Well, we had a nice gathering in preparation for our Tic tac toe challenge. We there were several games played. Many of the games had a winning robot, while others ended in a draw. I think we all learned something. About half the robots are going to (...) (21 years ago, 2-Jan-06, to lugnet.org.us.laflrc)

  Re: 3T

(...) Well - I actually timed my robot this afternoon. The average move is actually 5 seconds...and, it may be a little longer before I am done as I might put some "dancing" in the mechanism to ensure the cube is properly deposited. We'll just have (...)   Re: 3T

(...) All of them :) Not sure on the total count, but it is something like 14 4 stud gear racks and 3 of the long gear racks (8 stud??). Two rows of racks for my forward and back motion help keep the robot going perfectly straight (until a cube (...) (21 years ago, 1-Jan-06, to lugnet.org.us.laflrc, FTX)

  Re: 3T

(...) Well, sort of. You seem to be using a light sensor to read a mechanical system, not observe the blocks themselves <grin>. And, as my post implied, I ended up with a mechanical system. It's just it doesn't allow all the fun stuff I wanted it to (...) (21 years ago, 1-Jan-06, to lugnet.org.us.laflrc, FTX)

  Re: 3T

(...) Well, just for comparision, mine uses three touch sensors, two light sensors, three motors and one RCX... And doesn't have a prayer of matching a 4 sec move. As it is, if I add another parallel task it fails to accurately register positions, (...) (21 years ago, 31-Dec-05, to lugnet.org.us.laflrc)

  Re: 3T

(...) My plan is to use six touch sensors, two rotation sensors, three motors, and one RCX. Hopefully. Steve (21 years ago, 31-Dec-05, to lugnet.org.us.laflrc)

  Re: 3T

(...) I know how that goes...I just got back the stuff I loaned to the FLL Teams. (...) What about total sensors? How many of each type did you end up using? I forgot to mention in my earlier post that I am also using 2 polarity switches and a (...) (21 years ago, 31-Dec-05, to lugnet.org.us.laflrc)
