  TexLUG Austin meeting Sunday 1/8

Folks, My wife and I will be traveling 12/29 to 1/9, so I won't be attending the TexLUG Austin meeting on Sunday, 1/8. (I tried to find an alternate venue and/or time, to no avail.) The procedure for the meeting room at the LWC library is very easy; (...) (21 years ago, 29-Dec-05, to lugnet.announce, lugnet.org.us.texlug, lugnet.loc.us.tx.aus, lugnet.loc.us.tx)

  Re: 3T board & rules

(...) Not many comments. Sorry. The game should end after the last robot gives a signal (handoff). That way it can be timed by an external source (not just someone watching the game) (...) We haven't much discussed clearing the board. We are (...) (21 years ago, 27-Dec-05, to lugnet.org.us.laflrc)

  Re: 3T board & rules

(...) Huh. After playing for a while, I'm noticing a lot of interesting odd ways of minimizing time. My 'bot's not fast enough I fear, but this ends up being and interesting problem. (...) (21 years ago, 27-Dec-05, to lugnet.org.us.laflrc)

(...) winning cube is in the proper cell, or (b) the ninth and final cube is in it's proper cell. So assume both robots are started at the same moment (by pressing the "run" button), can we assume the game is over (from the standpoint of measuring (...)   Re: 3T

(...) I finally ran into the same problem at high speed last week. Rats. With or without an accessory light, the difference are just too small to deal with... or at least trust. So I took off my nice, compact light sensor, and had to invent a (...) (21 years ago, 23-Dec-05, to lugnet.org.us.laflrc)

  NELUG 12/2005 Greenberg train layout.

The following is a link to a story that appears on our website. The one omission to the story was the fact that we consistantly had about 80% more folks around our layout than any other at the show. I think this has become common for most LEGO (...) (21 years ago, 22-Dec-05, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.general, lugnet.org.us.nelug)

Re: Can "pjmoyer" or any other Wamalugger help me???

(...) Oh thanks Abner, I didn't look under "octagonal" because I thought it was a smooth cone, that will work, and it looks like there are plenty on BL. Thanks. Janey "Red Brick" (21 years ago, 18-Dec-05, to lugnet.org.us.wamalug, FTX)

Re: Can "pjmoyer" or any other Wamalugger help me???

(...) Hi, I believe, the green 2 by 2 cone element in the picture is from the Aquazone theme "Aquaraiders" sets #2160, #2161, and 2162. (URL) I hope this helps. -Abner (21 years ago, 17-Dec-05, to lugnet.org.us.wamalug, FTX)

Can "pjmoyer" or any other Wamalugger help me???

While recently surfing B.S. I came across pictures from your last Wamalug meeting in "pjmoyer"'s folder... and I was looking at the greeting cards, which are totally excellent, btw. I assumed those were real bricks in the photos and not cads, until (...) (21 years ago, 17-Dec-05, to lugnet.org.us.wamalug, FTX)

  Re: Got balls? Heads up.

(...) there is some new kind of harry potter "ball" that has a magnet in it. some version of Jeff Elliots train car detector could probably pick it out for this. Anyone played with harrys ball? Chris (21 years ago, 15-Dec-05, to lugnet.org.us.laflrc, lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: Got balls? Heads up.

(...) Oh, that would be a cool module, in addition to a ball counter. How would you display the time? Is there a way to do it besides using the RCX display? You could use the Red ball that always got stuck in your ball sorter at BrickFest... Steve (21 years ago, 15-Dec-05, to lugnet.org.us.laflrc, lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: Got balls? Heads up.

(...) That was my intention. Since the Horta eggs are slightly bigger, droping the balls onto twoproperly spaced parallel rails should work: soccer balls fall between the rails, while the horta eggs roll down the rails and back into the module. (...) (21 years ago, 15-Dec-05, to lugnet.org.us.laflrc, lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: Got balls? Heads up.

(...) Actually, it would be kind of cool to have a module that just circulates the eggs & balls, but only passes the balls forward. No one else has to deal with them, as long as you don't let them out. Sort of like this module (from Brian Davis): (...) (21 years ago, 15-Dec-05, to lugnet.org.us.laflrc, lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: Got balls? Heads up.

(...) Janey, thanks for playing with these new balls and telling us all about them. Brian, if you wanted to make a module that passes soccer, but retains horta eggs, then you would need to make EVERY module be able to deal with both sized balls. (...)   Re: Got balls? Heads up.

(...) ... (...) Janey, I know what you mean about soccer balls moving around. At the last train show, a few people were talking about the "soccer ball factory". We may go that direction next time. I'm sure painting them won't work. I think LEGO did (...) (21 years ago, 15-Dec-05, to lugnet.org.us.laflrc, lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Got balls? Heads up.

After seeing the great ball moving into more and more train layouts... the "soccer" balls, seem a bit .... uh "strange" for lack of a better word. After a bit of group discussion, I was looking for a Lego substitute... Technic Ball Joints? Black or (...) (21 years ago, 15-Dec-05, to lugnet.org.us.laflrc, lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto, FTX)

  Re: 3T cube orientation

(...) Yes. hopefully, somebody will believe me at some point ;-). (...) Absolutely. To be fair, Matt has far more processing power than the RCX, extremely well-tested firmware, and a multi-year head start. (...) No, put it's one of the things I like (...)   Re: 3T cube orientation

(...) You keep saying that. I've taught Matt to play Tic-Tac-Toe. I think he's doing better than you, at this point. (...) I think that shouldn't need saying. (...) I think it's up to the builder how/if it signals the game is over. It would be cool (...) (21 years ago, 14-Dec-05, to lugnet.org.us.laflrc)
