Nothing is silly. All your points are extremely valid. I think we
should pursue the discussion, decide, and make it happen.

We had been thinking of a 6 inch wall of plexi all around. Assuming
our current layout, and some sort of wooden frame around the plexi (or
at least on the bottom), we'll have a minimum height of a full 6
inches from the table top. We can cut all the panels we need from 1
4' x 8' sheet of plexi.
As far as cleaning goes, that's another cost I didn't factor in.
Plexi needs special cleaners to avoid scratching and clouding the
glass.

I don't think 8 stands would cut it. The weight of the rope alone
(assuming a minimum 8 mil climbing rope) would almost be enough to
topple stands with 8 to 10 feet in between them.
And again, adding one foot to all four sides brings the total size of
our space to almost 15' x 22'.

The places I talked to will cut the plexi to our needs for nearly
nothing. The rest of the work would come from the frame/base, etc. I
definitely like the system that we discussed in the forum a couple of
weeks ago.
More random thoughts.
