  Re: Building organisation methods

(...) I think that's a good idea. If we put the oil tanks down by the airport they can provide fuel for the planes, and over on the right side is about teh nearest we can get the back of the office building to the edge of the layout so people can (...)   Re: Building organisation methods

(...) I'm using a curved plate because then I can have the trucks use it as a drive way and loading zone. I still have to build the equipment. You've got the corner store and office building WAY back (5') in the corner where it won't be seen. I (...) (24 years ago, 27-Oct-00, to lugnet.org.ca.vlc)

  Re: Building organisation methods

(...) In the "building layout.jpg" file I put the tanks inside the bottom right area of the loop on the right hand side of the layout. Anyone gotta better idea? Dean, why on a curve road plate? Won't a straight road plate do? Kevin ---...--- (...) (24 years ago, 27-Oct-00, to lugnet.org.ca.vlc)

  Re: Building organisation methods

(...) In the interest of expediency, I think perhaps we should just continue in the simplest manner possible, which probably means doling out baseplates to fill, or something similar. Hopefully we can do some fine tuning when we actually have (...) (24 years ago, 27-Oct-00, to lugnet.org.ca.vlc)

  Re: Building organisation methods

(...) I think that would be best. I know I don't want my Lego lumped in with everyone elses. (Unless there is a specific list of parts etc. like I need to do for my duel track crossing...) I'm trying to fit out a good layout for my twin fuel tanks (...) (24 years ago, 27-Oct-00, to lugnet.org.ca.vlc)

  Building organisation methods

(...) So Robin, what you're saying is that we should build buidings for specific exact places on the layout, eg a space 26x18 studs (just for teh sake of an example). I guess that means someone building it on a baseplate at home, peeling the (...) (24 years ago, 26-Oct-00, to lugnet.org.ca.vlc)

There are lots of metal shacks alongside the railway tracks in real life... <shrugs...> Course, a constant ding-ding-dinging could drive ya nutz if it keeps going and going and going and (...)   Re: Building plans

(...) Good! (...) Ok, I've discovered the PERFECT light setup for signals. I even have a free port left on the Train Crossing RCX that I can use on them. Where would you like them? And what do you want them to do? I can give us RED and Green or (...) (24 years ago, 26-Oct-00, to lugnet.org.ca.vlc)

  Re: Building plans

(...) Couldn't you make a micro-motor drive a cam with a beam resting against it, so the beam is tapping a small bell? =) (24 years ago, 26-Oct-00, to lugnet.org.ca.vlc)

  Re: Building plans

Ok, we are getting things rolling and my Train Duel crossing is going to kick. Wait until you see the lights. The only thing missing is the 'ding' sound... I'm going to need aprox 20 more 1by8 gray tiles to make the second track and middle stretch. (...) (24 years ago, 26-Oct-00, to lugnet.org.ca.vlc)

  Re: Blue Tubs

(...) I've got a crap load of Gray straights and curves myself. (With path) I'll use a gray road plate. That's a pretty good idea. Dean -- Coin-Op's For Sale!: (URL) Lego Workshop: (URL) Lego Club: (URL) (24 years ago, 26-Oct-00, to lugnet.org.ca.vlc)

  Re: Blue Tubs

(...) I think we've got a plethora of straight grey road plates, so that's what I would suggest. We still may need to do a inventory count of all our different plates to ensure that our current layout will work. Robin (24 years ago, 25-Oct-00, to lugnet.org.ca.vlc, lugnet.loc.ca.bc.van)

  Re: Blue Tubs

(...) I picked up two tubs from TRU. Full price though. Sigh... Anyway I can do the second Tank. Not bad. One thing. What colour base Plate should it be? Maybe a straight plate so the trucks can drive up to it? Gray or green? Or if half plates, (...) (24 years ago, 25-Oct-00, to lugnet.org.ca.vlc, lugnet.loc.ca.bc.van)

Re: Track Plan - final version?

(...) I'm always thinking of the aesthetic before the function, I suppose. I think we should be able to do it the same way we did the rest of the layout, the baseplates especially. Once the layout is finalized with track and baseplates, we have very (...) (24 years ago, 25-Oct-00, to lugnet.org.ca.vlc)

Robin Sather wrote in message <39f62912.90712801@l...et.com>... (...) My feelings on this are mixed.   Re: Track Plan - final version?

(...) I actually don't like this change. It removes 2 baseplates worth of building room and I don't think we have much to spare. I know it means we don't have a road crossing the curved tracks, but myself I don't care much about that, I wouldn't try (...) (24 years ago, 25-Oct-00, to lugnet.org.ca.vlc)
