OK yeah didnt explain that well at all. I'm thinking a platform in the base
goes up & down, it has a rotating link of some kind (turntable) on top that
pushes the activating mechanism up & down. Hmmm not sure if thats any better....

Yeah I notice you've already incorporated a clutch gear into the drive 8?)
wouldnt want to put too much sideways pressure on those arms as they're
going up & down...
