Right, but the building I'm in is 20 stories and the 3 lifts are cable
driven.

The building is mid-70's so I've no guesses on where control was at that
point (I don't know at what point the phase-in began to solid state from
mechanical switching and ratchets and indexing and all that fuzz)... I am
unsure if the lifts are geared or direct drive.
