I hear you - I'm working on my third mountain module and *gosh* it uses
up a lot of bricks.  I'd love to discuss building tips with you at
train2 - there's got to be a better way...

If I had money and time to spare, I'd go ahead with my grandiose
mountain layout, but alas, I think I better stick to what I have.
I ordered a bunch or dark grey bulk packs last month, 5 packs of 2x4
(x50 pcs), and 2 packs of 1x2 (x100 pcs), but that only did the outside
wall of one 48x48 stud baseplate, BURP's included. So I'll try putting
this on the corner and then maybe we can do some town layout on the
remaining 2 modules. How much can the rest of you ParLUGment'ers
fill up?
Anyways, just for curiosities sake, here's what I'd hoped to build. The
green plates represent the general area the the mountain was supposed
to cover. It had a max height of 20 at the crossover. Maybe some day
I'll be able to complete it. Here it is:

And then my toned down layout, with an airport thrown in for filler:

Play well.

Well, I picked up all the 1x2's and plywood to build 3 modules today.
Hopefully can get them together before we head out to Windsor on
Thursday. If they go together well, I will get enough for 3 more, and
then hopefully I can get my mountain together in time to fill the 2x3
module layout that I have been working on.
I don't know where it would fit into their existing plan, but I'll
worry about that later.
We might want to have another module of just town layout too, to display
Jude's apartment and whoever else wants to bring buildings.
Well, I'm getting kicked off the computer by my wife, so TTYL.

Well that's incredible news!  I'm so glad to hear ParLUGment is bringing
modules!  The position on the layout is not really a problem.  Apart from
the corners (ie, JeffE, JeffVW and myself) the rest is relatively
rearrangable to fit however many will end up coming, as long as they fit
into the interconnect guideline:

One thing I should mention.  Consider how it's all going to fit in your car.
I'm at the limit of what can fit in a 91 Plymouth Voyager with six full
modules.  My plan is to stack them three high, bolted together with 1x3 or
2x2 frames with handles into the bolt holes.  That way all the buildings
stay intact.  Only two of such stacks will fit into the van.    So be
careful, as I mentioned to Chris Leach-it's the transport that's hard-You've
all obviously got the creativity for the actual layouts :)

Yeah, I'd love to chat about construction techniques, etc. I can just imagine how many bricks you're going through right now. That was a pretty impressive layout you outlined on Brickshelf. Have you got any more pictures to tease us with? Play well. (...) (23 years ago, 27-Jul-01, to lugnet.org.ca.parlugment, lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)
