  gear train

At what point do you give up with an overly complex gear train, and redesign? I need a way to transfer axle rotation 90 degrees, then 6 studs left and then 3 bricks down..... that's to the first half... from there it travels back UP and across blah (...)   Re: Rule clarification.....

(...) There are people who had longer than 12" crossers, but that fits within the diagonal length from opposing corners of a cube. Rob Ziman brought in a cube wireframe to prove this in case we got weird about the rules. Trevyn and others have used (...) (22 years ago, 1-Jan-03, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Rule clarification.....

We have a simple rule for R13 5.The entire device at start should fit within a 12 inch cube. Originally when we gave a size limit we talked about a robot being no bigger than 12" cube. Will we allow a robot that is longer or wider than 12" with the (...) (22 years ago, 31-Dec-02, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: Pipe Racers Demo Videos

(...) We looked at 22.5 deg joints but it's not so much the angle (well, 22.5 vs 90 yes, but...) as the sudden increase in outer diameter due to the joint.   Re: Pipe Racers Demo Videos

This is so cool! I really look forward to see how this is developed. I imagine it will be quite a trick to get this across the joints. Have you thought about a less extreme joint? 30 deg maybe?   Re: Pipe Racers Demo Videos

(...) It's really quite fun--part of it is because it's in 3D vs the usual 2D building we do (ie, wheeled/tracked floor based vehicle) and at that, you have to work at any angle (because the pipe is 1D, but you can approach the joint at 360 (...)   Re: 8475 -- a good buy

(...) This reminds me of a go-cart race I was involved in once. 9 or 10 of us rented the place, and it turns out one person was a maniac - always smashing into people. Hyperaggressive when passing.
