I found they're not really linear and aren't useful for any continuous drive.

At what point do you give up with an overly complex gear train, and redesign? I need a way to transfer axle rotation 90 degrees, then 6 studs left and then 3 bricks down..... that's to the first half... from there it travels back UP and across blah (...) (22 years ago, 2-Jan-03, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)
