Hello, I am not sure if you know, but the 2003 National Model Railroading Association is having an annual convention in Toronto from July 13-19 2003 (NEXT year). Of course, we'll sort this out tonight, but I don't see why we should bar anti-robot strategies unless they violate our usual standards. That is, no using string or wires as weapons (too easy) no dumping of substantial numbers of parts on the play (...) (23 years ago, 8-Mar-02, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

I'll definitely try to make it by 6. I'll bring one very evil 'tank' steer player that is inspired by 3 back-to-back BattleBots episodes. I'm bringing three: a rack & pinion trike, a fragile tank/skid steerer with a kicker, and an upgraded tank identical in design but less prone to self-destruct. (...) what about a kicking device??? Each of mine has 4 motors (1 for each rear wheel to allow steering / and to give it some horse power, and 2 motors for the kicking device). I managed to slap together a robot this morning in about an hour and half. After fixing one major design flaw, I was basically covering up the IR port, I discovered it's about a 1/4 inch too long.
