Re: ...was - my robot works

(...) People shouldn't have to speak up to say dinner is on the second Friday of the month. If we want to change it we shouldn't be doing it the day dinner is expected. We've discussed the fact that constantly and spontaneously changing the dinner (...) (17 years ago, 12-Oct-07, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: ...was - my robot works

(...) Well, you see, the tip thing is an interesting story. It would seem that once every 17 years, the waitress will automatically add a gratuity to parties over 6. here, I think its best explained in this video. I learned about it at brickworld. (...) (...) nope. unless the majority want it on friday, but, ive not heard any noise from the mass's Chris (17 years ago, 12-Oct-07, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: ...was - my robot works

(...) Im ok with this idea. I mean, the game is Sat. why not have the dinner the same day? Chris (17 years ago, 12-Oct-07, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: ...was - my robot works

(...) Thanks for the reminder, Chris. Any objections if I update the web page to indicate the next rtl dinner is Saturday the 13th after the contest, around 5pm? (17 years ago, 11-Oct-07, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: ...was - my robot works

(...) I was just trying to expand on what Derek said. (not my idea) Having the robot hit the wall doesn't sound good for a couple reasons. I must admit, the thought of Chris' robot tapping the wall, and smashing to the ground does sound fun, it may (...) (17 years ago, 11-Oct-07, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: ...was - my robot works

(...) Steve's idea very much sounds like that "wall" we originally talked about hitting. Derek is right, the higher up you go the easier it seems to swing. With some re-codeing, I can get my bot to swing at any height, and so far the bottom of the (...) (17 years ago, 11-Oct-07, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: ...was - my robot works

(...) If it were me, this is how I'd want to do it. Assuming there are "legs" holding the bar, simply put a rope from one leg to another, about half way down. The goal would be to make the robot's rope touch the marker rope. Steve (17 years ago, 11-Oct-07, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: ...was - my robot works

(...) I thought the idea was we'd try the robots at different lengths of rope to see how they perform. I think it's important that competing robots use the same length of rope. Otherwise I'm tying my robot as close to the top as I can. Shorter the (...) (17 years ago, 11-Oct-07, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: ...was - my robot works

(...) Im ok with all this. thanks for the quick reply. (...) well, we have pretty mush geared the game to highest/farthest/wall, to change it to fastest 2 days before game day might not be fair. (...) well, I ~guess~ it would be ok. shrug. I mean, i (...) (17 years ago, 10-Oct-07, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: ...was - my robot works

(...) I need to amend the official rules: the ropes end 12" from the floor. I used that instead of 20" because the ropes will no longer be hung from a ceiling. Is this a deal breaker for anyone? Feel free to fasten your robot anywhere along the (...) (17 years ago, 10-Oct-07, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  ...was - my robot works

(...) Wayne, I have a few questions: -Can the robot start ANYWHERE along the length of the rope height, or will all robots HAVE to start at the height of 20" from the bottom of the floor? -If the new goal is not the "wall" then how will we determine (...)   Re: Attn Losers of rtlToronto - my robot works

(...) Just swinging the highest / farthest. If folks are feeling destructive, by all means do the wall thing. In other news, I've built the frame for the robots to swing from. It looks like a giant sawhorse. It's about 8 feet long, and the top bar (...) (17 years ago, 9-Oct-07, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Question about direction?!

So swinging LEFT to RIGHT is BAD right? Chris (17 years ago, 7-Oct-07, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Attn Losers of rtlToronto - my robot works

HA HA!!!! not only am I swinging, but my robot is too! I got it down to 1 RCX, 1 nested IF, and 2 rubber bands. oh, and 1 motor, and no sensors! Chris the greatest swinger ever ps. anyone know if we have to swing to a wall, OR swing the (...) (17 years ago, 6-Oct-07, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: R22 - swinging bots

(...) I dont know what kind of scam your trying to pull, but clearly the kids boots in the background are NOT lego, as as such, are not allowed to be part of your robot. Chris my robot still jerks, back and forth, much to the pleasure of some people (...) (17 years ago, 5-Oct-07, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)
