  Re: Play Area

(...) Bah. And here I was thinking of doing exactly that. Why bother with a moving robot if I can have a stationary one? :) Oh well. Jenn's building it anyway :) (21 years ago, 24-Dec-03, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: empty cell vs. Black chip.

(...) Hi Chris, You'll have to excuse me I'm not very experienced in this written communication thing....... I have my editors put in all those nouns and verbs things. I'm in it for the pictures. I don't know the rules well, but I was thinging that (...) (21 years ago, 24-Dec-03, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: Play Area

(...) ok, so we are agreed than.... the spirit of the rule was meant mainly as a way to say that you cant have your robot LIVE on your opponents side. but if you venture into an opponent air space, people will not get upset. and that 2. don't be a (...)   Re: empty cell vs. Black chip.

(...) Kevin, you seem like a nice guy and all. I'm not sure about where they do thing where YOU come from, but out here we like to use more nouns, and verbs in our conversations. (except for IAIN) so what did you mean by "mirror" :) (21 years ago, 24-Dec-03, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: Play Area

(...) It's not you, Chris mentioned it too. I'm not eager to change it at this point, as others have already started. So unless it's impossible, let's just make sure everyone's aware of this restriction and work around it. (...) I don't really love (...) (21 years ago, 24-Dec-03, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: Wonder where all the Connect Fours went in North America?

(...) It is, actually. It makes me want to do a charity event somehow in rtlToronto, but I'm not sure how to do it, in all honesty. I'm sure I'll snap out of this unusual charitable moment and continue with the cold harsh outlook I've learned from (...) (21 years ago, 24-Dec-03, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Play Area

I have a question for people who have built (or are building) robots for Deep Yellow. Has anyone else noticed the common area restrictions to be a problem? What I mean is the fact that a robot is not allowed to enter the area past the left edge of (...) (21 years ago, 24-Dec-03, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  empty cell vs. Black chip.

has anyone else come across this dilemma: the light reading between a black chip and an empty C$ cell are VERY small. on the order of 1% other than adding a light to the sensor (which is clunky and only helps a little bit) OR do you put a light (...)   Re: Wonder where all the Connect Fours went in North America?

(...) ENUFF of your INSOLENCE!!! actually, I don't really CARE to scan the entire board. BUT in the spirit of motivating the rest of RTL, I find that I have to create some arbitrary unit of measure as a kind of challenge to the group. ERGO, if my (...)   Re: Wonder where all the Connect Fours went in North America?

(...) Chris: Why on earth would you scan every square? Surely the worst scenario is scanning the top of all seven columns? (21 years ago, 24-Dec-03, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: scan time....

(...) what am I missing??? I've explained that !!AT FIRST ATTEMPT!!! it take 35 seconds to scan the board. with 42 cells on the board that's less than a second a cell, OR just over 5 seconds to scan a row...... this still means that I have one day (...)   Re: scan time....

(...) Hmmm... I must have had a slightly different method in mind than Chris. At 35 seconds to scan the board, I get 5 seconds per scanned square. Silly me. (...) I wish - *that* contest I might have a chance on. Someday, I'll get up there for a rtl (...) (21 years ago, 23-Dec-03, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: scan time....

(...) That's strange--I was just thinking that Steve must be rubbing his hands with glee!! "Oh those rtl'ers--they won't know what hit 'em!! I'll come up with a witty response, throwing down something like 'I can do that 'bot with one motor!!'", and (...) (21 years ago, 23-Dec-03, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: scan time....

(...) this is sarcasm.... I can tell. (...) freak! (...) gee, and you wonder why people have it "out for you" :) <-- always implied Chris "It is a very clever strategy IMHO, and I applaud Chris for thinking of it." K.C. (21 years ago, 23-Dec-03, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: scan time....

(...) wow. 35 seconds? That's almost 1 second per square. That's pretty fast. Mine takes almost 4 seconds. I'm just wrapping up my second C$ robot. It only uses 1 motor. Next, I need to start on my marble sorting robot... Steve (21 years ago, 23-Dec-03, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  scan time....

POINTLESS. but FYI my first attempt at a board scan resulted in a time of 35 seconds. Heck, at that speed, my Project X could have done TWO anti-X times. now, if only I can find some way to program some sort of random number...... think think (...)
