Hi Aaron and Alex,
Something often scoffed at, but which has a remarkable power to help FOCUS
one's development activities on what is important, and what is something
"cool
we'd like to do" (yes, it happens in the "real" world too, not just in the
early
years of life :-) is a vision or a mission statement. Something clear and
concise
that conveys to everyone who reads it what it is that you are doing (or
trying to do).
Typically it winds up being a slightly long single sentence. For example:
iReady will be the dominant provider of end-to-end internet connectivity
solutions
for non-PC devices that deliver an outstanding customer experience.
From the vision come a set of strategies for achieving that vision, from the
strategies
come projects each project has a specific mission that helps achieve the
vision, from the
mission come clear objectives (what, to whom, and when) which lead to the
work
that needs to be done...
I have a feeling that you have a somewhat amorphous "vision" of what KIDLUG
could/should
be (probably as a consequence of the recent LUG decisions to exclude
"children"). Try to
bring that vision into focus so that you can write it down clearly so anyone
can understand
what you mean (remember, everyone has a different history and therefore
brings a different
point of view to anything they hear or read) and then work toward achieving
that vision.
Good luck!
-Peter
