Re: Violence created by presence of guns? (was: Gotta love Oracle...)

(...) They are already. Guns are A) a hassle to get most places, B) expensive, and C) highly regulated as is. (...) It might, in fact, reduce the number of school shootings. I'm not convinced of this, but I'm willing to concede that it might. But I (...) (23 years ago, 14-Oct-01, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

I'll take some culpability here, I'm a sucker for trying to show up the clueless, and no matter how many times I swear it off, it's just too tempting... he's just so cluelessly annoying when he wants to be. (...) No - I'm not a Calvinist, not Arminian either. I don't accept all of either of their writings. Calvin claimed to be infallable! Couldn't take him seriously after that. Arminius I liked a little more, but don't agree with most of what he says - (...) (24 years ago, 1-Dec-00, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

(...) I'm not defending my post as a refutation of your claim, but I'm curious about this. How is long term limit a flaw? I was thinking of it as an asset because it supplies a venue in which long periods of public service are reasonably possible. (...) (22 years ago, 5-Jul-02, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

That data is suspect. 100 years ago we did not have the technology to determine what the temperature was in a repeatable way over enough sample points to determine what the average temperature is at a given location.
