    Rumor control? —Dave Schuler
This could probably be posted in OT.FUN, but I figured this was a safer place to start. Last night, while availing myself of the fine Pittsburgh mass transit system, I had the pleasure of sitting a few seats away from a quite vocal and colorfully (...)         Re: Rumor control? —Larry Pieniazek
(...) Rather a harsh way to put it, but yes, I believe that if you take what Al has said at one time or another at face value, he does see global warming as such a huge problem that any measures may not be too drastic, including disassembling all of (...)          Re: Rumor control? —Dave Schuler
(...) Oh, you know--that durned Clinton and his gas tax are so bad that the honest working man can't even drive his own car anymore! Dave! (24 years ago, 18-Nov-00, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

         Re: Rumor control? —Larry Pieniazek
(...) Well, all I can say to that is look out for Hillary! for prez in '04 (why does she get to use an exclamation point?? is it because the mere mention of her name is scary?) If you thought the conspiracy theorists were having fun now, just wait. (...) (24 years ago, 18-Nov-00, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

         Re: Rumor control? —Dave Schuler
(...) Heehee! Well, two answers... My usual explanation is that "I'm the kind of Dave that people get excited about," and then when the laughter dies down I offer the further explanation that I started using it when I learned what the exclamation (...)          Re: Rumor control? —Bruce Schlickbernd
(...) Oh hey! I like that. It'll drive the Republicans up the wall. Almost worth it from that standpoint alone! :-) Of course, they'd be worrying needlessly since the first female elected president will be a conservative (not because Republicans are (...)         Re: Rumor control? —Jon Kozan
(...) Yes I thought they were doozies when he wrote them in his book "Earth in the Balance" (or some title like that). But they are true. That's the way it is with belief systems (like the Democrats), people tend to be willing sheep, signing up for (...) (24 years ago, 17-Nov-00, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

         Re: Rumor control? —Frank Filz
(...) And I'm sure Republicans always probe their candidates fully... I'm not even sure that I trust that some Libertarians don't follow the herd sometimes. Frank (24 years ago, 18-Nov-00, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

          Re: Rumor control? —Larry Pieniazek
(...) Now THAT'S hitting below the belt. :-) We got railroaded in NY when the Howard Stern fan club took over the convention and nominated him for Gov but that's a pretty big exception (and we changed the convention rules to prevent that from (...)           Re: Rumor control? —Steve Bliss
(...) I've long sus--- no, I won't do it. Too obvious. (...) There's a Libertarian herd? I thought we all were free to do what we wanted... Steve (24 years ago, 20-Nov-00, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

         Re: Rumor control? —John Neal

        Re: Rumor control? —Scott Arthur
(...) USA = 3% of the population. USA = 25% of CO2 production. Right now, I hear, the USA is using so much oil that is is forced to buy ~90% of Iraqs oil - despite the fact that UK/USA drops a tonne of bombs on the country per week. In that sort of (...)         Re: Rumor control? —Dave Schuler
(...) Interesting. Out of curiosity, what percentage of heavy industry is located in the US? Or is all that CO2 produced by cars? Do you have a breakdown of other leading national contributors to atmospheric CO2? (...) Really? Every week? Under what (...) (24 years ago, 20-Nov-00, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

        Re: Rumor control? —Scott Arthur
(...) Production and consumption are the problem. (...) At present the US, with its 250m consumers, sucks up the largest proportion of world oil - 19m of the 74m barrels the world uses daily. Two-thirds is used for transportation. (...) Nope, but I (...) (24 years ago, 20-Nov-00, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

Re: Rumor control? —Christopher L. Weeks
(...) We exhale more. (...) Are you under the impression that that somehow answered the question? (...) So? (...) We seem to be getting on OK. (...) Well, now we get to something that is wrong. We shouldn't be dealing with people like that. Chris (24 years ago, 26-Nov-00, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)
