Not to say that there haven't been people willing to undertake the project of
reconstructing the Giza Pyramids.
An Egyptian businessman was willing to create an attraction in Brown County,
Indiana (Brownsburg, to be exact). It wqs supposed to be a life-size replica
of the famous Giza pyramids, but the plan never fell through for lack of
funds. His reason for choosing Brownsburg was the quality of limestone found
there, which is nearly identical to thee limestone found in the stone quarries
used in building the pyramids. (If anyone's ever seen the movie Cutters with
Dennis Quaid you know of some of the Limestone available there used in
building Indiana University. Also, Brownsburg is sufficiantly distant from a
metropolitan area as allow access to and from the site feasable, yet is close
enough to a major highway and international airport (only about 40-50 miles).
Unfortunately, in the 1950's when the idea was introduced tourism to the area
was not much of a prospect, though times have changed (as well as increasing
overhead on cost). With all the other hocus-pocus stuff going on in the area,
it would make for an interesting culmination of spiritual and metaphysical
dimensions.
