The use of CTOPs on JLUG is so prevalent that I found it impossible to evaluate the content without knowing what they meant. But the JLUG FAQ has a link to Richie Dulin’s secret decoder ring (which is hosted here on LUGNET, BTW) so it really wasn’t that much trouble to look them up.

I think I have only used CTOPs when writing in response to people who profess to be JLUG grokkers. When commanding my minions of micro-felines, I must communicate in a series of meows, purrs, pops, and clicks. When conversing with JLUG grokkers, I find it easier to use their shorthand. Chalk it up to intellectual laziness on my part if you must.

Not really. I’ve learned the hard way to do my homework before I make a purchasing decision. And I certainly plan to buy less of their product in the future.

(...) CTOPs are there for the benefit of the whole Community, not just Jlug, so it's good to see them getting wider use.
