So the veep took a hit for being a hypocrite, and his best response was “go .... yourself?” Sounds like Senator Leahy hit a nerve, no?

lol Please, Cheney has been around the block a few times. What it sounds like is that Leahy is an A-hole. But in reality, there is probably a lot more to the whole thing than we are aware. Making judgments based on limited information can be perilous.

... I’m saying, he who has never dropped the F-bomb in conversation-- let him cast the first aspersion.

I don’t get this issue.

lol Because it’s a non-issue! I’m guessing it is a tit for tat when Kerry was overheard swearing at that secret service agent while he was snowboarding...

My guess is that Leahy and Cheney are both asses. And who cares if Cheney profaned a senator? I mean, I guess y’all do, but frankly, I think his remark was the most meritorious thing he’s ever done in his life (that’s been widely publicised, anyway).

On a side note, does LUGNET’s censorious stance on profanity permit these juvenile, if clever work-arounds like A-hole and F-bomb? If so, what’s the point?

The point is civility. We dance around those terms as a way of showing respect to each other. We recognize that these terms are mean-spirited and vulgar and have no place in civil discourse, if even to type them for the sake of discussion. You may feel that that is silly, but that is what being civilized is all about.

When I see A-hole printed out, I think the same exact word to myself and just a little side-adendum in my mind about why they used that (local (...)
