Re: What age does buying lego become embarrassing?

I came to much the same conclusion. Normally I avoid driving in New York, but, my SO brought a little subcompact, and there we were, outgunned on the mean streets. So we got a Jeep Cherokee. It's the smallest SUV that is still able to carry 4 tall (...) (24 years ago, 16-Jul-00, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

Re: How big is to big?

(...) What? What kind of logic is that? Suppose someone sets off a bomb in a large office tower. Do you feel safe going to work? Boeing has plans to build a double-decker as well, should Airbus decide to go through with theirs. If enough airline (...) (24 years ago, 16-Jul-00, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

Re: What age does buying lego become embarrassing?

(...) Yeah, these prices should all be rolled into the price of fuel. But, wouldn't people freak out if gas went up to $3 per gallon and the prices of all non-local goods (like 70% of groceries) rose in price by 30%? I'm really sick of people (...)   How big is to big?

(exert taken from CNN article) "(CNN) -- The challenge for the travel industry in the next century is to accommodate an anticipated boom in tourism and commuting -- and to do so in style. Specialists say to expect bigger planes, larger ships, faster (...) (24 years ago, 16-Jul-00, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

(...) sloped (...) Note if you will the metal bars in an oval in the front of the canopy. That would be best represented by the X-Wing canopy. ~Drew "Luke" Lawrence (24 years ago, 15-Jul-00, to lugnet.off-topic.debate, lugnet.build, lugnet.starwars, lugnet.general)

Re: Pokemon (was: Harry Potter Lego Line)

(...) That is because they chop out anything to do with Japanese culture and anything that isn't G-rated. The end result is an absolutly awful show. (...) (24 years ago, 15-Jul-00, to lugnet.general, lugnet.off-topic.debate)

Re: SUVs (was Re: What age does buying lego become embarrassing?)

(...) Actually, I should add that Mercedes-Benz does sell a mini-van in Europe, the V-Class. It has not been a big hit. It uses some Sprinter and Volkswagen EuroVan/Caravelle mechanicals. (...) (24 years ago, 15-Jul-00, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

(...) The (...) Canadian (...) is (...) in (...) Mercedes- (...) I am sorry I didn't make it clear. I meant full-size van market, not mini-van market. The Ram Van and Ram Wagon are ending production, and it is no hearsay. It's official. I very well (...) (24 years ago, 15-Jul-00, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

Re: SUVs (was Re: What age does buying lego become embarrassing?)

(...) Mark, will you STOP with these unattributed rumors/hearsay? While there is talk of bringing the Sprinter to the US according to the trade rags, it's for an entirely different market than the Caravan/Town and Country. The Sprinter is a panel (...)   Re: Building the A10 Thunderbolt "Warthog"

Actually, I think you have it backwards. The front of the Hog's canopy is sloped steeply from the nose to the top, and the back of the canopy slopes gently from the top of the canopy to the fuselage. Chris (...) (24 years ago, 15-Jul-00, to lugnet.off-topic.debate, lugnet.build, lugnet.starwars, lugnet.general)

Re: What age does buying lego become embarrassing?

(...) The name is not changing for 2001. They are introducing a new variant called Avalanche, which has a pick-up truck bed and "tougher" styling, but the Suburban name is staying. GMC has renamed the Suburban the Yukon XL (...) (24 years ago, 15-Jul-00, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

Re: What age does buying lego become embarrassing?

(...) might (...) Since when? The 2000 Chevrolet Suburban is all-new and redesigned (and more fuel efficient). The GMC Suburban is now called the GMC Yukon XL. (24 years ago, 15-Jul-00, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

Re: What age does buying lego become embarrassing?

(...) Actually, it is called Yukon XL, for eXtra Large. Yukon is a name that has been used on the short wheelbase Suburban (Tahoe over at Chevy) since 1993. This fall, they will also introduce to new monsters, Denali and Denali XL. (24 years ago, 15-Jul-00, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

Re: What age does buying lego become embarrassing?

(...) Sure they do... it's just called "Yukon" now because the marketing folks at GM decided "suburban" sounded too "soccer mom-ish" ~M (24 years ago, 15-Jul-00, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

Re: What age does buying lego become embarrassing?

(...) No, I don't think so. I just find terms like that to be signs of lazy thinking. A cute label gets put on a group by a clever radio commentator or columnist, and I can get some pleasure from that, but then the term get picked up and parroted (...)   Re: Hello

(...) Yes, well, if someone's snickering about your lego collection in class, and everyone joins in, and you shut up and never mention that again - isn't that what I was talking about originally?... Leaving lego, or at least having "dim ages", (...) (24 years ago, 15-Jul-00, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

  Re: Hello

(...) True, true, that is true, but though this and the supposed peer pressure are very similar, I would not quite call this peer pressure. This is just people being mean and someone adapting so they don't have to put up with it. (...) See above. (...) (24 years ago, 15-Jul-00, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)
