  Re: policies

(...) Bruce, you failed to mention perhaps his greatest achievement. When he delivered his speech, it was from the "lowest rostrum in modern presidential conventional history". (what about unconventional history?). I've not seen the pictures, but it (...) (20 years ago, 3-Sep-04, to lugnet.off-topic.debate, FTX)

  Re: Fair use and allusion?

(...) If Moore causes issues to get debated which would otherwise lie quite, I think that’s a good thing. It amazes me how those interested ‘the truth’ attack Moore night and day whist saying nothing about the bias in the US media. I wonder why that (...)   Re: Fair use and allusion?

(...) Because I care more about you guys than I do the Republican conventioneers? Man their speakers do drone on, don't they? (...) See above. (...) Agreed. But besides the point I was making, which is that Moore damages his causes merely by being (...) (20 years ago, 3-Sep-04, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

  Re: Fair use and allusion?

(...) Why are you telling US this? Why aren't you on the podium at the Republican convention? For a party that detests Moore, they are bigger liars and prevaricators (and True Liarnators) than Moore. :-) -->Bruce<-- (20 years ago, 3-Sep-04, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

  Re: policies

(...) What?!? Would you have them run on their record? Thousands murdered while they stood around, still haven't found the guy responsible, went after the wrong guy for the wrong reasons, and Their Number One Guy still can't account for where he was (...)   Re: Fair use and allusion?

I happened to find an interesting cite. I think it's germane to the section of the post below I haven't trimmed away (...) This is an op-ed piece written by Ellen Goodman: (URL) found this para particularly relevant: "Moore described his movie as an (...) (20 years ago, 2-Sep-04, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

  Re: policies

(...) Now, now. It's not nice to make sport of someone's height just because you disagree with his name calling and flag waving. Dave! (20 years ago, 2-Sep-04, to lugnet.off-topic.debate, FTX)

  policies

(...) Talking of policies, does the Republican Party have any? The short experts I have seen so far have been 50% flag waving and 50% name calling. Scott A (20 years ago, 2-Sep-04, to lugnet.off-topic.debate, FTX)

Re: Terrorist Attack on US Soil!

(...) Excuse me, but you're interrupting my feisty rant with logic and citation. Please wait until I'm finished expostulating before injecting rational discourse, okay? (...) Well, fair enough! Dave! (20 years ago, 1-Sep-04, to lugnet.off-topic.debate, FTX)

Re: Terrorist Attack on US Soil!

(...) (URL) Reuters editorial policy> forbids them to use those words. But you can still use them if you like. Don (20 years ago, 1-Sep-04, to lugnet.off-topic.debate, FTX)

  Terrorist Attack on US Soil!

Brad Karger has been (URL) arrested> in connection with the pipe-bombing of a medical research company. Nowhere in the article to I see the word "terrorist" or "terrorism." I note also that Mr. Karger was charged last year for attempting to blow up (...) (20 years ago, 1-Sep-04, to lugnet.off-topic.debate, FTX)

Re: What's actually the task of the moderators on BrickShelf?

Hello! (...) That's an optimistic view on people's behaviour. I wished I was that optimistic (no sarcasm intended). However, everybody including me should always be aware of what impression one's particular behaviour, fashion or whatever makes on (...) (20 years ago, 27-Aug-04, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

  Re: Un-spotlight?

(...) I think that originally, there was the possibility to set negative, as well as positive ratings on a post. However, this was soon removed, to avoid the negative carma associated with rating a post down. Fredrik (20 years ago, 26-Aug-04, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

  Re: suspended Bricklink shops

(...) Do you feel that your intial listing was outside of the ToS? If not, why change it? I find it notable that neither you or Dan have posted your full e-mail exchange. I know from personal experience and the testimonials of others that you (...) (20 years ago, 26-Aug-04, to lugnet.off-topic.debate, FTX)

  Re: suspended Bricklink shops/

(...) Chris, if I'm so wrong, maybe you could tell me what you think. Scott A (20 years ago, 26-Aug-04, to lugnet.off-topic.debate, FTX)

  Re: suspended Bricklink shops/

(...) Does "suggesting a change" really seem to you to be the same as "dictating?" Seriously? Maybe you think it's just a matter of spin, but your first (unfounded) claim is simply incorrect (based on all the evidence I have) and your most recent (...)   Re: suspended Bricklink shops/

(...) I'm not clear on what the distinction is; was he not suggesting a change in the way BL operates rather than bring his listing within the ToS? Does that not imply that he wanted the ToS changed? Or do you mean he wanted the wording to remain (...) (20 years ago, 26-Aug-04, to lugnet.off-topic.debate, FTX)

Re: Un-spotlight? (was: suspended Bricklink shops)

(...) Which gets me thinking, why not also have a "un-spotlight" function? Not to remove a spot light I've previously set (which I can already do), but to subtract from the spotlights of others (subtract 100 or whatever from its points value). So if (...)
