This same thing happened to me with another clone brick: Best-Lock.

I remember being up until 3am building the set with the space shuttle and crawler. When I tried to lift it off of the bed to go to sleep, the crawler fell apart in my hands. It took four more tries and another 45 minutes to get if off my bed. In the morning it fell apart again, so I threw the pieces back into the box. And I haven’t touched it again since.

Yeah, I picked up a few Best-Lock sets on deep clearance at Target a while back. They don’t have anywhere near the clutch power of LEGO or MEGABLOKS, I think because they use a studs-and-slots system rather than studs-and-tubes. It’s a shame, because Best-Lock uses a pretty good plastic, and their set designs are quite clever. I have almost no use for them, though, because of the clutch problems and because they’re not 100% compatible.

Mmmmmmm. Best Lock are a disappointment - some cool designs and fun models, but waaaaaay too poor in the brick consistency department, and, as you say, not compatible.

I picked up a couple of small cheap sets for less than the price of a pack of gum, and vowed never again.

That said, one of my sons loves it, because it quickly and inexpensively furnished him with a veritable army out of the box for Brik Wars ;-) And in this regard, the fact the models are like to fall apart in unexpected and amusing ways represents a feature!

I have written elsewhere of my passion for some of MB’s military models, and the high playability of the Alien Agency, Dragons and Command Ops lines.

My advice as always is to pick up one of the ProBuilder line sets (I bought one of the desert APCs for about US$6 a few weeks ago, so its not like you need to make a big investment) and try it out for yourself.

And if its modern Brik Wars you want, its hard to go past the Command Ops line(but careful, the big model elements in this line are heavily juniorised - and great fun even so :-).

And no absurdly pointless blue pieces secreted into the model...

Still baldly going...
