  Mega-Bloks official site updated

I happened to check out www.megabloks.com and noticed that they've recently jazzed up the format of the site. I runs a little slowly, but it has lots of cool info on its recent products. In an uncharacteristic move, Ritvik has actually included (...) (23 years ago, 30-Jan-02, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

Re: Trademarks & Copyrights (Swimming pools & movie stars)

(...) If GoB can show they were the fisrt users (I'm not saying they do or are), does the word not belong to them? (...) I'm not sure I agree. The GOB kits (and most other MOCs) are designed in a way that economics dictate Lego can not really (...) (23 years ago, 30-Jan-02, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands, lugnet.market.theory)

Re: Trademarks & Copyrights (Swimming pools & movie stars)

(...) Neither of those examples reassures me it isn't just the usual corporate abuse of power and money. How different we feel when it's eBay v. Brickbay...then it's just words that should belong to everyone. I feel the same about GOB. It's just (...) (23 years ago, 30-Jan-02, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

Re: Trademarks & Copyrights (Swimming pools & movie stars)

(...) Sorry Hoppy...some 10 instances found on the web (I went a bit further than Google) do not put the word into the vernacular. Citing the Windows example, now there is a word DEFINATELY in the vernacular before trademark was claimed upon (...) (...) Well, glad you asked! (Never mind that you didn't ask ME-- any excuse to haul out my OED!) I have looked (OED Compact edition two volume set with the magnifier in the slipcase that I got at the garage sale with the Bentley for 2 bucks), and it (...) I thought we made it up :-) Seriously, a Google search on "bricksmith" doesn't turn up anything that could be called "actual words being used in the vernacular".... you get lots of GoB-related (...) However, the design isn't that great, and the kit (...) (23 years ago, 28-Jan-02, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

  New Pro Builder set?

Not my auction, and I won't be bidding: (URL) still dying to find the construction vehicles set that I've seen only once, and only on ebay. If anyone spots it, let me know! Dave! (23 years ago, 22-Jan-02, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

Re: Prancing Pony $7.44 at Target (Was Re: Review of LotRs Prancing Pony)

(...) Clone snob! :-) My 6-year-old was watching his 8-year-old brother build the Buckleberry Ferry dock with the bricks that kept falling off. After a while he turned to me and said, "Mom, it says ages 7 and up on the box, and I'm glad!" Maggie (23 years ago, 21-Jan-02, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

Re: Prancing Pony $7.44 at Target (Was Re: Review of LotRs Prancing Pony)

(...) My 8-year-old begged to build the Ferry set and found the same thing-- the bricks don't hold onto the bottom of the 8x16 plates well at all! BTW that reminds me, a while back when everyone was wondering about the anchor clones, I noticed that (...) (23 years ago, 21-Jan-02, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

Prancing Pony $7.44 at Target (Was Re: Review of LotRs Prancing Pony)

(...) Hey, at Target's 75% clearance today I managed to find a Prancing Pony Inn for $7.44 (also a Buckleberry Ferry for $3.74), so you guys may want to take a look if you get a chance (although I saw even fewer LOTR sets than I did LEGO-- these (...)
