...And in the "always check back" department, I had a hunch
that today might see discounts that were missed yesterday.
I called a few stores and they vehemently denied that anything
had been further discounted since yesterday, but somehow I was
still skeptical and decided to check it out for myself.
Good thing, too, because my first Target had $24.90 Destroyer
Droids (8002) yesterday--but today, they were $12.44. Unfortu-
nately someone had beaten me to them, and only one remained
because it was in with "regular stock." My second stop was
quite confusing because only some items were discounted--Throwbots
Castle and my catch of the day, a Race championship set with
the green-haired girl for $12.44--but the regular SW items were
still at 50%. So I went to the third, hoping it was similar,
and it was, but reversed in pattern--ONLY the SW System stuff
was discounted! So I landed 15 7144 Slave Is (Boba Fetts are
spoken for already, sorry), 6 7131 Anakin Podracers, 4 Speeder
Bikes (7128), and 6 7101 Lightsabre Duels. Not bad, but the
nearly 30 various Technic sets still at 50% (and two Naboo
Fighters) made me very sad, as did the Exploration Mars and
RIS Accessories still languishing at 50%. No rhyme or reason,
it seems--the Throwbots weren't all at $1.44, some were still
$2.90, and the price change team had already blown through.
I don't anticipate any more reductions until next Wednesday,
but given my luck at making predictions so far this year I
wouldn't trust my reckoning. I wouldn't even trust the store
employees to make predictions at this point.
I do hope everyone else is having better--or at least more
uniform--luck. I'm getting tired of going on these 80-mile
jaunts every morning "just in case". At least there's now
something to show for it! So go back and check each day, if
you can--you never know what might surface or suddenly discount.
best,
Lindsay

| (...) I totally agree with this approach! I hit a couple local Targets this afternoon with some success. The first one had nothing. I mean no clearances. On anything. It was like Christmas never happened. Very strange... The second yielded a nice (...) (24 years ago, 22-Jan-01, to lugnet.market.shopping)
