Estimated weight for 600 LEGO bricks for shipping

Hello- I'm closing a deal on eBay and was trying to see if an estimate for shipping was close. The shipper is in Maryland (Columbia), USA and I'm in Washington. To figure the costs, I need an estimated shipping weight. The auction lot was for ~600 (...) (24 years ago, 21-Dec-00, to lugnet.market.shipping)

Re: US postal rates going up Jan 7, 2001

(...) A 1.5 lb package would be $3.95. If you use an envelope that says "FLAT RATE", you will pay $3.95 if your package weighs 5 ounces or 5 lbs. Anything that fits in the envelope, regardless of weight, is $3.95. That's why they don't say over 1lb. (...) (24 years ago, 7-Dec-00, to lugnet.market.shipping)

A.E.T.Checks as payment for Lego / mailing ...

Hi all ! What if ... Someone sends American Expres Travellers Checks as payment (for Lego :-)) ) to you and those don't show up ? I guess there is no way someone else (except you - the seller) could cash those, so is there a chance for a buyer to (...) (24 years ago, 4-Dec-00, to lugnet.market.shipping)

  Re: DYA AND U.P.S.

Hi Legofans, Following last agreement between U.P.S. and DYA concerning overseas packages, and following result of last packages sent by shipping U.P.S., I can say this system is more sure, quicker and with the same price for big packages than (...)   Re: Shipping comments (wasRe: Lego Buckets on Sale for $2.00 ...)

(...) Not at one per box! I agree with you Doug, these are about the best way to take up space in boxes when weight is your main concern. I love them and am glad to get them, I use them up on overseas packages faster than I can keep them around, (...) (24 years ago, 25-Nov-00, to lugnet.market.shopping, lugnet.market.shipping)

Re: eToys shipping rates - Note the Maximum!

(...) Thanks for pointing this out: I managed to overlook this little tidbit, and made at least one decision to pass on buying a bunch of small sets on closeout because the extra buck apiece made them a lot less attractive. Since past discussions (...) (24 years ago, 13-Nov-00, to lugnet.market.shopping, lugnet.market.shipping)

(...) I think this is where Shiri was coming from. I know if I spent $300 on LEGO I'd be sleeping in the garage. ;^) ~Mark "Muffin Head" Sandlin (24 years ago, 13-Nov-00, to lugnet.market.shipping, lugnet.market.shopping)

I once bought these -- all listed as 50% off regular price -- this is actual data from the receipt: --- -------- ---...--- ------- -------- Qty Item # Description Price Total --- -------- ---...--- ------- -------- 16 (...)   Re: eToys shipping rates - yuck!

(...) It depends on what you buy, and how many. (...) I assume you bought either the Lightsaber Duel or the Droid Starfighter?-- regularly $5.99? Well, if you're paying $2.99 + $.95 for shipping, you're still saving 33% over the retail price. In (...) (24 years ago, 12-Nov-00, to lugnet.market.shipping, lugnet.market.shopping)

Re: eToys shipping rates - yuck!

As for kbkids.com, I placed several orders last night, and there was NO shipping charges on any of them. Of course, you'd never know this until going to the checkout screen, as that is the only place it came up. Now, if I actually GET what I ordered (...)   Re: eToys shipping rates - yuck!

Yeah, if you go back through the posts a couple months you can read where I complained about this too. I think it was around the time I was buying multiples of the Naboo Swamp set, and it was on sale, and the shipping ended up costing more than the (...)   Re: eToys shipping rates - yuck!

You think that's bad, at KB toys online it's $3.00 base plus a $1.50 for each item shipped. It's only really worth it if you buy a couple of big sets at the same time with a decent discount. They have 20% off right now but their prices are 20% (...) (24 years ago, 11-Nov-00, to lugnet.market.shipping, lugnet.market.shopping)

  eToys shipping rates - yuck!

I just went to eToys.com to check out the lego-SW sale they have. I was really excited over the prices, some really good sets are 50% off, and I rushed to order them - seemed like a *great* deal. That is, until I reached the checkout and saw the (...) (24 years ago, 11-Nov-00, to lugnet.market.shipping, lugnet.market.shopping)

  DYA AND U.P.S.

Hi Legofans, DYA concluded an agreement with U.P.S. (United Parcel Service). Why this agreement ??? For several reasons: 1- A cheap tracking system; 2- This agreement will permit you to make orders until 70 kg : in this case, you'll receive several (...)   Re: "Self Insurance" on packages

(...) Yes, that thought had occurred to me too. Ray suggested using DC but my situation is that I'm in Canada and sending Small Packet packages to the US and overseas: I *cannot* buy insurance (or, to my knowlege, DC) on a Small Packet. Of course, I (...) (24 years ago, 24-Oct-00, to lugnet.market.theory, lugnet.market.shipping)

  Re: "Self Insurance" on packages

(...) Actually, the mechanism to insure the parcel and the mechanism to confirm delivery are different. The USPS even charges seperate fees for each. Its entirely possible to track (Delivery Confirmation) a package without insuring it. <soapbox> (...) (24 years ago, 24-Oct-00, to lugnet.market.theory, lugnet.market.shipping)

  Re: "Self Insurance" on packages

(...) The possible risk is that the evil buyer receives the parcel but pretends they don't. They end up with the set and the $50. I would expect that your postal "losses" would increase if you offered self-insurance. If the Post Office insures the (...)
