I am changing the rules a little for this auction. Asking for bids in NOK (Norwegian Kroner) was a bad idea.   Re: Inter-Site Auction Directory?

(...) I'd love something like that. If I had the skills (I don't) I'd help make it. As it is, I'd gladly help anyone who can do it in any way I can with my site. (25 years ago, 28-Apr-99, to lugnet.market.auction)

Re: Methodology: Reserve, Controlled Reserve, or No Reserve?

(...) If an auction is held in a forum which attracts a reasonable number of potential buyers, and runs for a reasonable amount of time, and the minimum bid is set reasonably, a reserve should never be needed. Ways in which I see a reserve as being (...) (25 years ago, 28-Apr-99, to lugnet.market.auction)

  eBay Sniping: Interesting View

Here's a quote from The eBay Underground FAQ, (URL), following a section detailing the proper methods for successfully sniping on eBay: (...) I don't necessarily agree with him, but it is a decent rationalization to go out and do some snipe-hunting. (...) (25 years ago, 28-Apr-99, to lugnet.market.auction)

Re: Proxy ratcheting: How do auction systems work?

(...) I must say that things like that are what make real life auctions exciting. What's even more exciting is when the huge jump DOESN'T stop the bidding... (...) While not as large an excess bid as the examples you mentioned, I just participated (...) (25 years ago, 28-Apr-99, to lugnet.market.auction)

  Inter-Site Auction Directory?

Does anyone know of a website which will allow you to search multiple auction-sites at once? If none exist, should we create one? Hmmm, let's try the ever-popular search engine. Ooo, ick. Found some, not very effective. Steve (25 years ago, 28-Apr-99, to lugnet.market.auction)

  Re: X marks the spot

(...) Whoopeee! I like your target dates for this one, Todd. I can wait a long time for the package to arrive, but I *hate* when the bidding process drags on and on. I guess I have something in common with Eric R2. Then again, the first AucZILLA I (...) (25 years ago, 28-Apr-99, to lugnet.market.auction)

  Re: [DISC] Shortcircuit eBay?

(...) OK. G1/G2/Sold auctions can run as long - or as short - as the seller wants (assuming the auction site allows). If the seller wants to increase the 'excitement factor' by keeping the auction shorter, they can: 1. Decrease the time from the (...) (25 years ago, 28-Apr-99, to lugnet.market.auction)

Re: Planning, not arguments, please (was Re: [DISC] Shortcircuit eBay?

(...) The valid counter-argument is that if the sniper followed the rules of this particular auction, the problem would not have occurred. As in a sport, rules are present to encourage a fair match. Occasionally, a trivial violation leads to a (...) (25 years ago, 28-Apr-99, to lugnet.market.auction)

Re: Methodology: Reserve, Controlled Reserve, or No Reserve?

(...) That used to be the case, but they've changed it. Now the listing fee is tied to the min bid or the reserve amount, whichever is greater. I still hate reserves, though, and I don't bid on items with reserves. My choice is (4) no reserves (...) (25 years ago, 28-Apr-99, to lugnet.market.auction)
