Thanks Gary, I also have 1x4, 1x6, and 1x8, without cylinders. The colour of the plastic is slightly different too. Perhaps the men go with the lego and it's all 1978? Thanks for telling me about bricklink, I'll have a look around there. I think that I may not have phrased my question clearly. I have some of the very first lego ever made. It is not regular lego. I recently purchased a heap of assorted lego at a garage sale... There is quite a lot of the old style lego, the stuff without the cylinders, in various colours.
