  Re: 8 Wide train hopper

Bravo, Mike! {:^D You beat me to the punch-- I had intended to build an 8 wide version of Lar's Hopper as well! It looks great! Don't you think the proportions look a lot better? I especially like the way an 8 wide is wider than its trucks-- which (...) (25 years ago, 19-Jan-00, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.build, lugnet.loc.us.ca.sf)

  8 Wide train hopper

I am assuming John Neal is completely interested in this: I have just finished my first 8 wide train car. It is an adaption of Larry P's custom hopper. I widened it to 8 studs, added 5 plates height to it and lengthened it quite a bit. I might need (...) (25 years ago, 19-Jan-00, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.build, lugnet.loc.us.ca.sf)

Re: Trains and Re: Hold Everything!

Hey everyone, Since Mike seems fired up to go, maybe now is the time for the first Bayltc meeting. What about the Bayltc meeting then in Fremont, Fukaya Room, March 12, 1 - 5 pm, and the next Baylug meeting in Albany, TBA? All I need is another (...)   Re: Trains and Re: Hold Everything!

I would opt for Fremont over Albany, as it is an hour closer to me each way and I am already driving 3 1/2 - 4 hrs. each way as it is. I cannot yet transport the modules to San Jose for the next Baylug meeting dues to not yet having the racks made (...) (25 years ago, 17-Jan-00, to lugnet.loc.us.ca.sf)

  2000 sets in Pinole

Just wanted to let everyone know I was at the Pinole TRU today and they had most of the Arctic and Knight's Kingdom sets along with the B-Wing (I got the second to last one), Flash Speeder, Gungan Patrol, and Technic Pit Droid and Battle Droid. No (...) (25 years ago, 17-Jan-00, to lugnet.loc.us.ca.sf)

(...) The only reason I thought that 10 - 5 was better was so that there was a wider spread of time for folks to drop in and out. Some folks find the morning easier and leave early afternoon cuz of evening engagements. (...) Traveling from the (...) (25 years ago, 16-Jan-00, to lugnet.loc.us.ca.sf)

  maybe a little bit off-topic....

......Hi there! Once again I am heading from Europe towards your nice city and ask myself the following questions: 1.)Are there good places inside San Fran to hunt for Lego Technic? 2.)Does public transport to Muire Woods exist? 3.)Is it a rumour, (...)   RE: Hold Everything!

(...) I'd guess "instead of", because we could only get the Fukaya room on a Sunday. The library is open only from 1 to 5 on Sundays. However... I think maybe 1 to 5 is long enough, unless people anticipate doing more than last time. If you can get (...) (25 years ago, 13-Jan-00, to lugnet.loc.us.ca.sf)

  Re: SFX?

Actually, a magnet and reed switch would be more reliable than a touch sensor. Or maybe use an optical sensor. I'm not into train cars and such, but I'd be happy to contribute some motorized RCX-controlled scenery. The RCX remote control makes it (...) (25 years ago, 12-Jan-00, to lugnet.loc.us.ca.sf)

  Hold Everything!

Ack! I just found out that reservations for the room can be made one month in advance, so all the Saturdays for February are already full (they do go fast!). So, what would be people's availability for the Saturdays in March of the 4th, 11th, 18th, (...) (25 years ago, 12-Jan-00, to lugnet.loc.us.ca.sf)

  February Meet dates

Hey all, I hope everyone had a great holiday and new year's celebration. I will be attempting to secure a room for us at the Albany library for February. Zonker will be unable to make the weekend of the 19th so that leaves the 5th, 12th, and 26th (...) (25 years ago, 12-Jan-00, to lugnet.loc.us.ca.sf)

  Re: SFX?

Sounds neat. I still think we need to build some digital motors, or a train whistle module, with the whistle timing controlled by the voltage on the track. The other idea that might be simpler is to build a larger brick/module with a touch sensor (...) (25 years ago, 12-Jan-00, to lugnet.loc.us.ca.sf)

  SFX?

Hi all. I just had an idea. Would sound effects be good whenever there is a sizeable Town/Train display to add to the ambience of the layout? I could make an ambience recording for a Town that would loop on a computer listening to shoutcast station (...) (25 years ago, 12-Jan-00, to lugnet.loc.us.ca.sf)

  Re: Shut out at Target!

Last night I got the last droid development kit ($59), and the last 4561 from either hillsboro (OR) target. the 4561 was still at $77.90, but was partially opened. I cornered an asst. manager and asked about further discounting since it was open and (...) (25 years ago, 11-Jan-00, to lugnet.loc.us.ca.sf)

  Re: Shut out at Target!

Sat night at the Milp Target, I got the last 4561 they had - it was obviously a return, there were lots of things missing, and all the bags were open. I talked them down to $38.03, because I THOUGHT the engine was missing. After getting home and (...) (25 years ago, 11-Jan-00, to lugnet.loc.us.ca.sf)

  Mee 2 :-)

It seems like everyone is finding good deals! I hope to see some great MOC's in the next few meetings :-) At Kaybee Pleasanton I found a 6441 Divers set for $29.99 opened but complete. When I bought one 4561 on Saturday morning (in Milpitas), there is still two copies of 4561 left...
