I am willing volunteer with the websites, Simon and Richard's Job's. I • don't
mind the updates, i always working on the web, Every Day.

www.uklug.org.uk is in dire need of update and overhaul. Simon's page • design
is an acquired taste :-)

The last update was sometime last year,

Your pages are now at a pretty good standard and I would be glad to see • you
take over the role. (as long as you use a spelling & grammar checker :-) )

Thanks for the comments Huw, i do have a prob with my spelling checker, its
still in the US format, which i've just changed :-)

But my concern is the domain addresses. How long it's around for, and if • so
the costs of buying a new term of the License?

I am not sure where one does whois enquiries for .org.uk domains, so can't
tell when it expires, but I *think* Simon has it hosted by • freenetnames.com.
Is Simon around these days?

In any case, setting up another site, as you no doubt know, costs about • £20
p.a. -- £10 for the domain name, and £10 for a year's hosting. There even • be
cheaper options...

I have just checked the whois server, uklug was reg on 05-Dec-1999 , i think
it runs for 2 years?

Also,

uklug.co.uk is owned by Harold Jackson?
uklug.com is owned by Jason Clifford - now that name rings a bell?
uklug.org and uklug are owned by University of Kentucky Linux Users Group

How does the access to Lugnet work? "if i get the Job" do you FTp in to • the
Lugnet server to update the UK area? Todd can you put your comment here
please?

It is not done in HTML or FTP, but another markup language (FTX) and
different upload method. It's all pretty easy, I think, and documented
somewhere here (but I can't find it ATM)

It ties you down to a very specific page layout, which might not be • suitable
for what you have in mind. However, it is free...

If it is the way to go, Todd can set you up as a publisher.

OK, again, its up to the group, if they want somebody like me to make the
move.. Then somebody will have to decided..
