I have just made something fairly interesting out of bits from 4 x 7171 that
I could adapt into a pole section.

If so, what's the interface specification?

What is this Totem pole thread all about? (Sorry, I must have missed the
original messages). It sounds like an opportunity to build a massive Lego
tower in sections but that would require scaffolding wouldn't it?
