  Re: VicLUG Dead or Alive?

(...) Probably C. However, count me out until at least Aug 3 or 4th. After that, I am once again available. If you want to take over organization, I am more than happy to pass the buck (er torch) to you. If there are events, I will try to make it (...)   Re: Toys R US sale...

(...) not really my fault... :) Yes I'm in St. Catharines. I became a paid member of Lugnet when I was still on active duty at Fort Campbell, KY... (way back in 2000). (20 years ago, 20-Jun-04, to lugnet.loc.ca)

  Re: Toys R US sale...

(...) Ottawa's been Sopwith-less for a while now. I think they all disappeared when the prices hit $30. Are you in St.Cath? Your member page still shows you as a Kentuckyan. KDJ ___...___ LUGNETer #203, Ontario, Canada (20 years ago, 20-Jun-04, to lugnet.loc.ca)

  Re: Toys R US sale...

(...) Just a note: I actually physically went to Toys R US today to check things out. There were still a few Cloud Cars there (about a handfull at most) but there were no more Sopwith Camels. I see my Toys R Us is (still) clearing out the old Alpha (...) (20 years ago, 20-Jun-04, to lugnet.loc.ca)

Re: Canada shop.lego.com now in Canuck-bucks

(...) Sorry, replying to myself again... According to the Customs Notices on the Canada Border website, all provinces should be charging GST+PST, or HST, for all imported toys. That includes B.C., by the way. ;] None of the provinces have an (...) (20 years ago, 19-Jun-04, to lugnet.loc.ca)

  Toys R US sale...

I'm not quite sure how extensive this sale is for, but I seen that the new Strata Tubs are $20 CDN ($10 off). I think most Toys R US are still trying to clear their remaining Cloud Cars (3.99 CDN) and Sopwith Camels ($19.99 CDN) among some of the (...) (20 years ago, 19-Jun-04, to lugnet.loc.ca)

Re: Canada shop.lego.com now in Canuck-bucks

(...) If that is true, then there is something seriously messed up. Since LEGO is not made in Canada, all provinces should have to pay full taxes as if it were bought in their home province. I can't think of any reason why some provinces would have (...) (20 years ago, 19-Jun-04, to lugnet.loc.ca)

Re: Canada shop.lego.com now in Canuck-bucks

(...) Again, those brokerage fees were already included in the Shipping & Handling costs. Another post I made yesterday apparently got buggered up and appeared simply as me quoting myself. What it was supposed to say, was I had to correct an earlier (...) (20 years ago, 19-Jun-04, to lugnet.loc.ca)

Re: Canada shop.lego.com now in Canuck-bucks

(...) Yes, but that fee was already baked into the Shipping & Handling you were paying when the prices were in US$. That's what I'm trying to point out. All fees (taxes and brokerage) were already being paid when the prices were in US$. None of that (...) (20 years ago, 19-Jun-04, to lugnet.loc.ca)

  VicLUG Dead or Alive?

OK, so I would like to meet up with other AFOL's in Victoria and maybe even set up a display at the Model Railroad Show in September. But before I do I need to know which of the following is true: a) VicLUG is dead and if I want to play with the (...) (20 years ago, 18-Jun-04, to lugnet.org.ca.viclug, lugnet.loc.ca.bc.vic)

Re: Canada shop.lego.com now in Canuck-bucks

(...) Ahh, I'm in BC so that's probably why I only have the 7% GST. (...) Honestly, I don't think it's worth the effort because the cost of shipping from BC (for example) to Ontario might be equal to or more than the price you get charged for PST. (...) (20 years ago, 18-Jun-04, to lugnet.loc.ca)

Re: Announcing Canadian changes to Shop At Home!

(...) No! We need one in Alberta instead! So we only pay 7% tax! ;) Keith (20 years ago, 18-Jun-04, to lugnet.loc.ca, lugnet.lego)

Re: Canada shop.lego.com now in Canuck-bucks

(...) Are you in Ontario or the Atlantic provinces? People outside those provinces only get charged 7% GST. Anyone willing to take Lego shipments and re-ship them to Ontario for a small premium? Or is there any places eg. Mailboxes etc. that will do (...) (20 years ago, 18-Jun-04, to lugnet.loc.ca)

Re: Canada shop.lego.com now in Canuck-bucks

(...) Are you sure about that? I just looked at an invoice from May and I only got charged 7% GST. Apart from shipping, there was no other amount added to my invoice... -Bryan (20 years ago, 18-Jun-04, to lugnet.loc.ca)

Re: Canada shop.lego.com now in Canuck-bucks

(...) Actually, there is a small savings to be had. You are correct in saying that they charge all applicable taxes. However.... remember that on imported goods valued at more than $20 you are charged a $5 fee in order to collect the taxes, on those (...) (20 years ago, 18-Jun-04, to lugnet.loc.ca)

Re: Canada shop.lego.com now in Canuck-bucks

(...) Not to nitpick, but that's a red herring. S@H already charges Canadian customers for all applicable Canadian taxes, which are the only fees that would be assessed at the border by Canada Customs. This was already in place before the change to (...) (20 years ago, 18-Jun-04, to lugnet.loc.ca)

Re: Canada shop.lego.com now in Canuck-bucks

(...) Uh yes you do. S@H applies the taxes right on your invoice (PST+GST or HST as appropriate). You can't escape that. If S@H didn't charge taxes at the origin then Canada Customs would charge it at the border, plus add a $5 service fee. The (...) (20 years ago, 18-Jun-04, to lugnet.loc.ca)
